My son is 22 months and all he does is babble. He doesn't talk except he says eat, momma & Dadda but only when he wants to. He doesn't say momma or dadda when he wants us. He won't repeat anything you say. We are working with him on pointing to different body parts and he won't mimic us either. Not sure what I should do at this point. I know he isn't tongue tyed and his motor skills are fantastic but we just can't get him to talk.

My son is 25 months and he says maybe 10 words. I talked to the pediatrician and he says that my son is fine. He is the third child, so his brother and sister talk for him, but he does point at things he wants and wants you to notice. Every child is different so it is hard to say if something is wrong. His hearing may not be that good, or there could be other health problems. I think you should talk to the doctor and tell him you are worried.

Don't be too concerned yet, my son was close to 3 yrs old before he actually started talking in sentence form. For the longest time he would only say momma or dadda, mostly he just sorta grunted. Now he is 15 years old and never shuts up! lol
Be patient, his talking time will come! You just keep on working with him like you are. Read to him too, I found my son loved it when I read to him. Good Luck!

Is there any brothers or sisters talking for him? This will slow him down. Or if your letting him point and your filling in the blanks. If you are you need to stop and let him be verbal. Just keep acting like you don't know what he wants until he say's it. You might be surprised at what he can say!!

If not ask the Doc. Next time you go if you should be concerned...I had all girls ...But 3 nephews they did for some reason take longer to talk?

My best friend was conscerned about her son around 24-25 months for the same reasons so at her son's next doctor's appointment she mentioned it and the doctor set up an appointment with a speech therapist. When the therapist came to the house to test him he enjoyed the exercises and said a couple of words my friend hadn't heard him say before. He passed with flying colors and all of my friend's conscerns passed. Next time you bring him to the doctor ask about getting him tested - or do it today if it's really bothering you. As far as I know girls talk faster than boys do and boys are quicker with the physical things. More than likely your little man is just fine. Just make sure and check with his doctor.

Can he hear? I'd get that tested. Sometimes children start out hearing well, but it gets worse as they get older. Get him assessed through an early childhood program though. If there is something wrong, the sooner you find out, the better off he's going to be. By the way though, my brother was like 7 1/2 before he started talking so people outside his immediate world could understand him. He graduated college with honors.

I have seen this question many times. No, dont be too concerned as many children dont talk much until they are over 2 and some not until they are three. Most start to really talk a lot more about 21/2.

You should get him checked out just in case. He is probably too busy with the motor skills to talk, but it better to be on the safe side.

just wait a little longer and maybe go to a doctor and diagnose if he has a mental disaility. Einstiein didn't talk until he was 4 years old. His parents thought he was retarted. Just wait and see.

If his hearing is fine ... don't worry; take him to be with other toddlers; let him be around toddlers who are talking and making their own little language noises; let him play without mummy and daddy and he will pick up their noises

but check his hearing

My daughter didn't start talking until 25 months. She hasn't shut up since.
