Two situations possible here:

1) You are in a long-term relationship with the mother? As long as the father does not wish to sign away parental rights to you, you will not be able to adopt the child.

2) You think you can provide a better home to the child than either parent? If either of the parents refuse to sign away parental rights to you, it won't be possible.

From the situation you are describing, it sounds like the parents have no wishes to put their child up for adoption. Therefore, I'd say that your chances are about 0% that you will be able to adopt the child.

There are many children in this world who are orphaned by both parents...why not look for a child that has no parents?

Best wishes.

Why you want to do that? To get American citizenship? Just wondering but adapting a child in need is commendable nonetheless.

As long as the father supports the child I don't believe there is any way you can adopt without his consent.

thats sweet, but you have to look into legal matters. if your nationality is not american-you might have problems. check with a lawyer-but i think that its great that you are adopting a child.
