Usually I remain friends. If it doesnt' work then it doesn't work. Usually I don't get into a sexual relationship with a person unless I know them very well. Then again I am more brain than emotion, so what works for me, may not for anyone else.

No way! Being friends with an ex could be very problematic. Lets say he dump you. You remain friends and the next thing you know he is introducing his new pretty blue eyed GF. You get pissed and jelouse and wish you could rip her pretty blue eyes off lol. Ok so now imagine that it was you who dumped him. He may still not be over you and when you get a new BF he tries to sabbotage (don't know if I spelled it right) your new relationship. Nah, its just too messy.

It takes two to make that work. If you both break up on good terms, then yes. Other than that, you don't have to go out of your way to become friends. It all depends on how mature the other person is about the breakup
