Autism typically shows up just before age two... I was just wondering if anybody personally knows anyone of the non-vaccinating crowd who has an autistic child who was not vaccinated? Or know of a website that discusses this subject? Any studies done?

Personally, I think so.

My oldest neice & her whole family are all into anything 100% natural. I would very much doubt she had her children vaccinated. Yet, her daughter has high-functioning autism.

Considering I only know a max of 12 kids who haven't been vaccinated, the fact that one of those 12 had autism means the rate in these 12 would be more than 12 times the national average (which is now up to 1 out of 150)

I also know of one person born around 1910 who was likely Aspergers before there was such a label. And I bet my two uncles (born 1932 & 1924) would have been diagnosed Aspergers if they were kids today. These three were children long before these vaccinations were given.

I have also heard of other cases in my research, but would have to search again to find you the links.

Angie - the vaccines with thimerisol expired in Jan of 2003. There are VERY few shots, (not on the "manditory" list) with thimerisol.

But I feel much like you do, that the schedule for childhood vaccinations is too aggressive. I feel every child should get all shots, but just not as early as "they" would like. And not several at the same time.

Yes, my own son. He has never received a single shot, yet the first day home from the hospital we knew something was wrong, we just didn't know what. He hit all of his milestones on time or early, so we didn't know until he was a little over age 2. We moved to a new house, and all hell broke lose. While there is a strong and undeniable link to vaccines, (and I don't believe it's just the mercury, do a study to see what all is put into vaccines.) it's not what CAUSES autism, and it's not the only thing that contributes to it. Now, I don't know of a site that discusses autism and NOT vaxing, but here's a few that talk about the link. Oh, and while mercury for the most part was removed from vaccines in or around 2000, they were allowed to use what was on the shelf, and that carried over into 2002-2003. Dr.'s were not forced to remove them from the shelves. And, some still have thimerosal, but in smaller amounts. Still too much for an infant, but because they lowered the amount, they were allowed to do it. The flu shot is one that still contains thimerosal, not sure about the others. So if anyone insists on using them, demand mercury-free vaccines and only do one shot at a time, no combo shots. If a child is born with the genetic make-up to have autism, typically their immune system is not fully functioning, and to bombard the body with antibiotics, formaldehyde, and a host of other no-no's, is just going to cause more problems. Please do research.

To Smart Kat: I did state that they carried over into 2003, as you stated (that they expired in 2003). But, they shouldn't have been, they should have done away with all existing batches when it was deemed unsafe. And, as I said, I don't believe it's JUST the mercury in vaccines that is dangerous and is leading to higher numbers of MANY disorders, not just autism. And, the flu shot is one I know still has mercury, and that is pushed. Nothing is 'mandatory', every state allows for exemptions, but when you're a mom at the dr.'s and the dr. is pushing a particular shot, most parents haven't done any research on their own and blindly trust their dr., and are manipulated into giving them. I haven't really looked into which ones still have it, as I don't intend to give them, but I do remember the flu shot. And, I'm sorry, their 'trace amounts' to me doesn't cut it, when you look on some of the sites I listed and read how much is a 'trace amount'.

I personally don't know of anyone that has autism and was not vaccinated. I've asked a lot of people too. Good question.

The only vaccine shown to be associated with autism is a mercury perservative (timerosal or ethyl mercury) and was removed from routine vaccinations in 2000. vaccination is overwhealmingly important and good.

My daughter...she got her shots but a few years after they stopped putting mercury in them. In fact, rates of autism continue to climb.
