No, if you are downloading something from any other free website or program it can contain a virus because anyone can upload things to it.

There is no safe way with P2P programs. Plus limewire is fine, it was a file you downloaded that had the virus, not limewire itself. The best idea would be to get your music by actually buying it.

Not for free. I've been using Limewire for several years without problems. How do you know that it was Limewire? Do you have a good antivirus program such as Trend Micro's PCillin? This plus Spybot Search and Destroy (free) and LavaSoft SE Plus run on a regular basis will keep your computer clean as a whistle.

limewire isnt a virus, something you downloaded from it gave you a virus..... everytime you download something you are taking a chance at getting a virus, plain and simple..... bittorrenting is a safer alternative to getting music, but you still run a risk of getting a bad file.... for bittorrents, you need to install a torrent client like azareus, or bit lord, or many other ones, then use a website like torrentspy or some other website like piratebay ....

Limewire itself did NOT give you a virus! It was a file\s that you downloaded.

I HIGLY recoomend you get AVAST, it's a FREE Anti Virus program that checks for virus in Mail, WebSites, P2P, Instant messaging, & Networks automaticly.

I've used it for years and not ONE virus has gotten past it...

The bottom line is that if it's free then it's illegal. If it's illegal, it's probably full of viruses. If you want to make sure you don't download a virus then you have to use legal sites, and that means you have to pay for it. No P2P, no free stuff, just paying to connect to a server and download from that server, usually per track.

The best program ive found is Bittorent. You can go to there website and download their program. Then you go to something like, www.isohunt.com or www.torrentportal.com for the best choice in Torrents. Others are if you can't find what you want on those sites. You open the bittorent program, and it depends on how you download the torrents. I save to disk so I can save it in case something happens...Like redoing windows, or you can download into bittorent. Either way it works.

The best way is to download torrents. Look up "utorrent" on google and download that program. Visit torrentspy.com to find torrents for music, videos, application, etc. Usually this is much safer because people comment on what is being downloaded and warn you beforehand.

I just use Itunes, not free but virus free, I am done dealing with problems from 'free' downloads.
