I have heard that chewing ice can cause small cracks to form in your teeth because your mouth is warm and the ice, of course, is frozen; the enamel on your teeth will contract in response to the cold, then expand again via the natural heat of your mouth, and that ongoing reciprocal response will produce the cracks. If you do not have the iron deficiency mentioned by another answerer, you would do well to break yourself of the habit, substituting something that is potentially good for you or, at least, not detrimental and also not fattening. There are sugar free hard candies which you can suck rather then chew which you might try, for instance...

I have two things to share with you. First, I have heard that craving ice can be a symptom of an iron deficiency. You might want to get checked for that. Second, as far as the teeth go, the only thing I know is that if you eat or drink hot and cold at the same time, it can be bad for your teeth. So, for example, don't eat ice and drink coffee at the same time. Otherwise, I would think it is good for you because you are getting water from it.

Eat only when hungry and eat/drink only three times a day. Only exception is for diabetics. Water can of course be taken. Chew each morsel 32 times so that ur brain gets signal that u have had enough. Take regular exercises and brisk walks. U will loose/gain gracefully and attain the required weight in reasonable time period. Consult a dentist about health of ur teeth.

I don't know if it is bad for your teeth or not. But I do know that craving ice is one of the symptoms of anemia. Go see a doctor for testing, or at least take some iron fortified vitamins.

I have found out, through my own experience with constantly drinking Icees, that it is a characteristic of being anemic.

Eating ice is a bad habit. It will ruin your teeth and make you very impolite when you eat with other people. It will make you look like you don't have any social niceties.
