Just because the Marines promise you a certain MOS, this does not mean you will be actually doing this job for any set time . To fulfill their obligation, they may let you be a recon soldier for a month, and the cut orders for you to be transferred to something else in a blink of an eye.You have to reemember that the military send you where ever they want you.

The only way to be guaranteed acceptance into the 0321 MOS school is to join the Marine Reserve Force Recon Unit. I believe the only one is in Mississippi. Of course, they won't recommend you for their unit unless you can pass the most basic requirements for the school. Go to the following site:

Aside from moving to Mississippi,, there is no guaranty program for that MOS.

Last I heard there were only 4 Marine Recon units, company or battalion size... They probably only take seasoned troops who already have several years experience under their belts.

Talk to your recruiter for more current info.

BTW - MOS is no guarantee of assignment. The service will place you wherever they need you.
