You can have as many as you want. And despite what the above says, you should disable the Autorun features of your optical drives. This causes the system to scan the drives every few seconds to determine whether or not there is a disk, thus reducing performance. Just start the program you wish to use for that session manually.

I have numerous programs that I use for burning CDs/ DVDs. It causes no problems.

use them yes. But make sure you install the so they don't associate them selves with a certain type of file.
You want the computer to ask you what program to use every time you use media files.
Almost every player or burner will try to assign itself as the dominant program just do a custom install and un-check everything.
The other thing to make sure of is that your codex's work in every player. If they don't you may play the file OK in one place but
when you burn it you get crappe'

yes hun sorry you can have two similar softwares on the one laptop when you place a cd into the drive a window will ask you which programme you would like to work/open with
