i don't think you can lighten up your skin color. That's impossible. But if your talking about getting rid of dark spots, than that is different.

There isn't a permanent solution, but there are some temporary ones. A popular one in Thailand is Garnier Light Matte/UV matte whitening lotion with lemon extract. It has a SPF of 20. As someone of Irish heritage who is constantly trying to whiten my reddish complexion, I use any lotion that has titanium dioxide. You can also look into laser treatments. The ones with a doctor will cost you $400 a pop, and you need at least a few visits to see a difference. The effects only last for a year. Avoid the sun, alcohol, spicy food, and certain medications.

My roommate is indian and her mom is constantly trying to lighten her complexion. She has a cream bleach (not for her hair) that she uses that works like a charm. It hurts though, and does smell like bleach.

Daily cleansing with soap. Avoiding sunlight.

there aren't any. most supplements are not PROVEN to do anything. wear sunscreen though and that'll at least keep you from getting darker.
