The pH of your hair, skin and nails is 4.5 to 5.5. Most store bought products are not pH balanced for us, they are higher in alkalinity, which causes dryness. A lot of them also have plastics in their conditioners, which will weigh the hair down. I would recommend a professional product from a salon. Yes, they seem more expensive, but in reality they are not. Professional products are highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way.

Use what ever shampoo you want to use just make sure you use a conditioner after you rinse . If you need to get the static out of your hair use a leave in conditioner like infusium 23 . I like Aussie Mega Shampoo .

I have curly, frizzy hair and my stylist told me to use a leave in conditioner, or mouse. I use Aussie mouse with leave in conditioner. The dual personality stuff that they came out with a while back. This combined with a very gentle comb out after a shower will cut out on the frizziness and should cut down on your static also. This will also cut some of the poofiness down too.

I would suggest something from a hair salon. If you do not want to spend the extra money on shampoo from the hair salon try aussie, thremasilk,or finesse. Do not forget the conditoner as well to go along with your shampoo.

Pantene takes the best shampoo catagory here, but the one for smoother hair is good. Then I use a ceam leave in conditioner for straight hair. It's awesome.

Have you tried Johnson's Baby Shampoo? I can't use it because my hair is very fine and thin and it makes it look even finer and flatten out like a pancake.
