My son is almost 11 months old and I'm looking for a toddler seat ( up to 40 pounds atleast). What brand does everyone have that they like or dislike?

I have an Alpha Omega carseat.. it is 5yrs old the Eddie Bauer addition. I love it. I used it from 6 months to current.. he still is using it and will probably use it for another year. He is 5 now and I think he is a bit underweight for the short booster yet. I have plans to use this carseat with my little one that is on the way.

You will definately want something that is rearfacing and foward facing. There are some really great seats out there. I will narrow it down to a few to look at.

These are starting with the most expensive:

Britax Marathon/Decathlon/Boulevard-These run around $220-300. The weight range is 5-65lbs, which will take most kids to around age 5-6 yrs, at which time they can go into a booster. It is very plush, has nontwisting straps, a rearfacing tether and built in locking clips. No need to use those metal H-clips anymore!

Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe-This one runs $140-180 and it is based on the Marathon. It is made by Britax, but only goes to 55lbs. It does not have the locking clips or rearfacing tether, but it a wonderful seat for the price.

Sunshine Kids Radian-Runs around $180. It can be hard to find, but it goes to 65lbs and it folds up.

Safety 1st Uptown-Runs from $90-100 and is available at Walmart and online at Target. Very plush, easy to install and has tall top slots. 5-40lbs

Cosco Scenera-Runs about $40 and is an awesome budget seat. Most kids will make it to around age three in this seat.

The Evenflo Triumph is ok, but it is pricey and has a VERY short back. This means kids outgrow it quickly. The Evenflo Titan is a PITA to use and it's short. The Graco Comfort Sport is outgrown MUCH to early, like 20months for some kids.
The Alpha Omega and it's reincarnations(Eddie Bauer 3 n 1) are ok, but they will not be the last seat that you need. It makes a good rearfacing seat, but forward facing it is outgrown way to early because the last notch on the back is only for booster use. It makes a craptastic booster. Plus, car seats expire after 6 years for most and kids need a seat of some kids far beyond that.
Also, remember to keep your little one rearfacing as long as possible. Kids that are forward facing before age 2 are 4x more likely to be seriously injured or die in a crash.

I hope this helps!

Recaro Sport. It's a little expensive, bought mine online but it is good for up to 80 pounds and well made to last. I did a LOT of research before choosing this carseat. Have had it about 4 months now and love it!
