The main characters include:

-a tomato
-a cucumber
-a zucchini
-a couple of gourds

Those are fruits, not veggies. Cut those guys open and you get seeds. What are they teaching our children?

...and it looks like their ignorant message has reached some of you already!

The following are fruits because they contain seeds:
-tomato ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato )
-cucumber ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cucumber )
-zucchini ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zucchini )
-gourd ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gourd )

...and looking at the list of characters again, I see a rhubarb which was officially relabeled a fruit by US customs in 1940 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhubarb#Trivia )

I am shocked that this ignorance has spread so quickly. And to such promising individuals as well.

Honestly, my cousins have such a hard time watching the show because they are so distraught by this error. The other day I had to calm them after 3 hours of distressed crying. I just hoped they are not permanently traumatized by this.

Good point about the fruit thing. But I think the point of the show is to encourage good moral ethics and possibly good eating habits. There are some veggie characters, like broccoli and some celery. And the show just has too many good things about it to focus on technical errors.

I've never heard of a cucumber, squash (zuchinni or other), or gourd described as fruit...however your point is taken that at least some of these characters are fruits and not vegetables and thus it should either be "fruit and veggie tales" or "produce tales"

the stories are all full of good moral values and essential lessons, so who is paying attention if they threw a few fruits in the show.....why does it matter.... they appeal to the children and thus the children learn important things for their futures. so what if its a grape who is a friend of the carrot who is a friend of the celery

:-)

What about Christianity does not perpetuate ignorance? Isn't most of it intended to convince you not to learn anything at all so that you will be good sheep and do it the priest's/pastor's way?
