I've been hearing on the news lately about all the kids that have been kidnapped and it makes me sick. I thought of a way the police could locate them if they get kidnapped. A company could make a watch that looks like a regular watch. But it could have a secret compartment, that when opened would reveal a small alert botton. Once pressed, it could alert the police that someone's been take against their will and it could be programmed to be a tracking device. So as soon as the person is kidnapped and they pressed the botton, the police could zero in on their location. This would save so many lives. Aside from watches, they could also put it in necklaces or even the hem lines of clothing. If it's in different items, the kidnapper wouldn't know which and he's not going to make the person strip off everything in public. I can't afford to patent the idea but I'll submit it somewhere freely to someone in order to help victims. Does anybody know who I could tell my idea to? Thanks!

Police already do something similar with simple cell phones. You may not know this, but if your cell phone is on (not just making a phone call), the police can ask the cell phone provider to triangulate your position using the cell towers. Calling 911 on a cell phone does it automatically.

Sorry i don't know who to tell your idea to, but it is a really good idea. It could be used in other emergencies too, when people don't know their location. And it would save a lot of lives. I hope someday you can patent it or sell it to someone you can.

PS I have seen advertisement things on the end of gameshows (like the Price is Right") that show a picture of a Caveman with a wheel that says "Patent your ideas", but i didn't catch the number, so perhaps you can look into that. Or if i come across it again, i'll let you know.

While your idea is a good one I'm afraid someone already beat you to the punch. Theirs an outfit in Southern California that makes the very type of clothing and accessories you spoke of. The biggest drawback is not everyone can afford these luxuries. The average cost of the purchase and the service that would track your Loved one is approximately $290.00 dollars a month, and way out of the reach of the common person whom by the way are the most likely to run into that type of problem. Corporate Executives are the 2nd in line.

What if you could micro chip your child like you do your dogs, except the chip would be a tracking device. Placed somewhere different on each child and just inserted under the skin it would not hurt and if done at birth, the child would not even know it and would not know where their chip was, so they could not be made to tell the kidnapper. I know we have the technology to do this and it should be a government funded program. And kidnapping would cease to exist in just a few years. Wouldn't that be great?

What happens when the kidnapper knows about the alert watches, searches each of his victims for one, then tosses the watch out the window, while he drives the child somewhere far away?

Not to be obnoxious, but it's a good theory, even if only as a theory.

This is the VERY TICKET that is being used to sell the human implanted GPS tracking chips known as the RFIDs --- they are used for a whole lot more than the "location" thing though and they are already being made and installed inside human beings at this present time !!! It is the MANNER in which all of us will become the tagged cattle of the new millinium and it is being SOLD to us right now as the answer to all these problems that will be "SO EASILY CURED" once we are all implanted and living like nice little "well behaved robots" !!!

When you go shopping or anything for that matter, before you even leave the house, get a picture of your kids with a cell phone camera. If something should happen to the kid, you can send the picture immediately showing EXACTLY what the kid is wearing, plus a great picture of who they are looking for. It only takes a second to shoot the picture, yet it can be what saves their lives. You could also gt a picture of who the kidnapper is. (Only if you're lucky enough to see them.)

The technology you are referring to is widely available and is of course already patented. Also your idea of tracing signals has transpired as child tracking devices are widely available in various articles. If you could acquire the the tracking technology, you (or anyone else for that matter) could of course market it in watches and necklaces. Of course these devices are quite expensive and children are prone to lose things. Short of embedding computer chips into the bodies of children, there is no way to consistently locate abducted children.

Try bringing it to your local government offices or police station. Good luck getting it going. I'm afraid it will require a lot of money to keep it going if they start it, and with Bush funding mostly only the war, it's unlikely places will get any money to fund this great idea.
