yes, I do have some symptoms of BPD, and I'm going to be starting DBT therapy pretty soon. We'll see if it helps.

Yes, very familiar with it. It is lifelong illness, but the symptoms are treatable enabling you to live a relatively normal life. It is caused by your childhood environment as someone said, but antidepressants are not the only cure. You may need such things as SSRI's such as Prozac or Sertraline, but these only mask symptoms, but they do help. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is by far the best treatment. It teaches you to think in a more positive way and see things from a different perspective and more positive way.
There are many different kinds of Borderline personality. There can be dependant, or narcissistic and many others, you do not say which you have. Most people are overly aggressive, and feel abandonment, and hopeless, and act in innappropriate ways to certain situations. They have difficulty in maintaining relationships, but all this is treatable through therapy.
Hope this has helped.
Good luck.xx.

Substantially familiar! I've had many clients with "borderline personality." I don't think I need to add much to the answer of "justme"~but if I had to choose one word, I'd say they are are highly UNPREDICTABLE. Perhaps one of the most difficult mental problems to help. But not hopeless. I only wonder if this "label" was adequately diagnosed, since you give no details.

Yes, I am familiar with it. It is called such because the person is at the edge of his sanity. A person with borderline personality has characteristic of self-harm. He is very prone to committing suicide. It's a wrong perception that when this person is so depressed, he'll probably resort to suicide. Suicidal acts usually occur when their moods are elated because they have the energy to do so.

Yup, I've been diagnosed with BPD.

I have found that medication and therapy help a lot. Antidepressants have been the best for me as they relieve the depression, reduce my aggression and impulsivity and bascially, enable me to lead a relatively normal life and work in quite a good job. I have tried other medications but the side effects have been too much for me to bear.

If you are looking for treatment, then get into therapy. Its the best way to make long term improvements.

MENTAL ILLNESSES are no different than any other illness....it is a malfuntion in our body due to chemical problems in the brain or a result of severe child abuse! it does not mean someone is "CRAZY" there is no such thing as crazy.

very familiar. Did you need to know something about it? I don't want to go rattling off about stuff you already know, or don't want to know.
