It's completely a matter of preference. My som likes the cheese put on after the eggs are cooked and let the heat of the egg melt the cheese. I prefer to add it while the eggs are still runny and let it cook in with the eggs. You will end up with a softer egg this way, and a completely different flavor. So, it's up to you. try both ways and see what you like best.
Note: use a good non-stick pan if you cook the cheese with the eggs.

When the egg is startign to curdle, but it still super-soft. Any sooner, the cheese will melt to the pan and screw it all up.

If you have Colby cheese, it melts better than cheddar when making Cheesy Eggs..... the plastic wrapped slices of cheese food melt even better..... FYI

After putting the beaten egg on the pan, sprinkle the cheese on top and put a cover. It cooks well.
Have a good meal.

I would put the cheese in right before you turn off the stove,
what I really like is to put chopped green onion in the eggs before you start cooking, then finish with cheese, YUMMY

Make the eggs and sprinkle grated cheese at the end, just before removal. It melts on rather than blends in and burns.
