Not necessarily. Depends of what they're "certain" of. If it's that they're "certain" they should be doing good things, then yes. If it's that they're "certain" we were put on this earth to love one another, then yes. If it's that they're "certain" that they're the only ones who believe the right thing, and that everyone who doesn't believe the same things they do deserve to burn in the fires of Hell for all eternity, then no.

Its certainly not a good thing to not think for yourself and there is nothing certain in this world except death.Death of the body, but the energy just moves on to a different place. Remember energy can't be destroyed, it just changes form. High school science.

i'd say a bit of both. its a good thing that people can strongly believe and be faithful in that belief... but then again if their religion turns out to be the wrong one (after all theres hundreds of major religions) and some how its proved that their religion is false, then they will feel greatly insecure and it will probably damage them greatly.

but then if everyone was open minded, then nothing would keep people rooted to the ground if ya know what i mean.

Depends on the person I suppose. In the wrong hands, some people don't become certain or secure, they become arrogant. For some, it's comforting and it guides them in life. I totally depends on how one uses the religion.

Only if you consider the end results of certainty to be a "good thing", such as the crusades, Nazism, the Taliban, christian terrorists (see the upcoming film, "Lake of Fire"), the KKK, etc.

The most enlightened and open societies in history have been the ones that embraced doubt and admitted their ignorance.

Unwavering religious fanatics are some of the most dangerous people on the planet. Along with anyone else who has a permanently closed mind.

Depends what you are certain of. It's nice knowing you are secure, but not so nice for others if you think you are better than them.

Religion has no significance to me. Its about a relationship with Jesus Christ, and yes, that it always a good thing!

well its not a good thing.

when that certainty leads you to act smug or superior to others who dont believe...then theres a problem.

just look at Kim Jong Il of N. Korea.
