I got it on ebay but it was about a year ago. It was for someone else but she never used it. I borrowed it from her today and There is no key code on the slip cover. unless its an odd combination of 18 digits which I doubt. Is there a way to find out?

I hope it was the whole OS with SP2 included, and not just a purchase of SP2....

Yes, the key code is an 'odd combination of digits' - but it's 25 characters. If it's not there, you most likely have a stolen/forged copy of the disk. If the computer says the code is invalid, it's most likely an already well-known hacked number.

why do it that way why not just d/l it from microsoft for free
