OMG I LOVE MY HUSKY!!!!!!!! They are the sweetest dogs in the world, and extremly smart and inquisitive. She loves to run and play and just be happy all the time. She also does weird hilarious things that normal dogs wouldnt do. Like how she yawns and stretches. And she is almost human with her expresssions. Like you can tell when she is sad, curious, sleeply, worried, hungry. If you dont have another dog though i would advise against not getting a Siberian Husky, because they are pack dogs, and need other dogs to be around or the will get really depressed. And also sadly it's one of the harder dogs to train, and if she runs off she probally wont come home ; (. But if you took the dog to a professional trainer it would probally be a lot better chances of her coming back. Like for instance my dog Ghost( a solid white husky w/ blue eyes ran away one and she didnt come back until somebody brought her back. They are happy dogs that can adjust to anyone. Anyways i would totally recomend getting a husky, they just fill up your life full of joy and happiness, they also make good watch dogs, not really much for the attacking, but for barking when animals and people are there.

I adore my Sibe! He is the most loving, patient, energetic little guy! (my 360 account has pics - braggin...heehee) There is only one thing I don't care for and that is the "harder to train than most dogs" thing...he can be very stubborn and it takes a great deal of patience in the puppy stages with Sibes...other than that though...there are so very many things to love..the whooo whoooing noises, the husky hugs(yes they do hug a lot), the energy (my family is very outdoorsy), the warmth(however the shedding can get trying at times), oh I could go on forever...he is so smart and such a little ham sometimes...if you are considering one I'd say as long as your are ready for action all the time, are good at being patient, don't care for shedding....then this is the perfect dog...they are so loving....and no I have never had a problem with him escaping (yet)...but the off leash is working great and I am certain you CAN train them to be off leash as about 25 in my city are always off leash...however those people have said that it takes a few years to train...

Hi! I've had huskies for over 20 years, and, for me, they're perfect. I'll get the bad stuff out of the way, then I'll brag. Huskies are amazing escape artists, so you have to be very careful. Even the most well trained huskey will run if allowed off leash. It's really for their own safety that you never let this happen, because they will dart into the street without a thought. Twice a year they shed their undercoat. During this time, you have to brush them every single day. It's a good idea to brush them a lot anyway, but when they're blowing their coats, you'll brush out bushels full of downy fuzz. I personally don't mind the shedding, because you can keep it to a minimum with good grooming habits. Huskies also dig. And they dig. And they dig.
But.....Sibes are extremely intelligent. Because of this, some people think they are hard to train. Quite contrary. They are not the least bit difficult to train. They will obey commands that make sense to them. If they don't think you're asking them to do something logical, they will sometimes refuse. It's not that they don't understand -- they just don't understand why they should do certain things! Huskies are indeed pack animals, and they will be more than happy to welcome you as a member of the pack. I heard someone once say that huskies are like potato chips....you can't have just one! That may be true, because I have five, and I wouldn't trade them for the world. If you live in a wintery climate, you can train them to pull a sled for tons and tons of fun. Huskies were bred to work, and they are never happier than when they're pulling a load. My guys all talk to me. It really sounds like they're talking, too. I've heard them say "Hello" "Are you home?" and "I love you." It's freaky, but very cool. I could go on for hours about their gorgeous eyes. They can be blue, brown, one of each -- even two colors in one eye is a possibility! They don't eat very much for their size because they have very efficient metabolisms, so they're quite economical for their size....about 50 pounds on average. People often stop and ask what kind of dogs I have. They are quite enchanting. All of my dogs are trained to be "off leash" in the house. They come when called, sit, lay down, stay, etc. I keep them on leash or in a 6ft high fenced area outside because it is their nature to run. Remember -- they were bred to pull sleds. So please, if you decide to get one, do not ever let him run off leash. They are not "wild." They simply behave in accordance with their purpose.
I hope this helps. Getting a Siberian Husky is a huge commitment, and it requires a lot of energy, but I think it's very much worth the effort. Good luck 2 u!

I've had three...well, my family has had three...and they were my brothers...and no matter how much training and exercise they were CRAZY! Yes, they run away, yes, they're super high energy, and honestly, they're just about the worst dog I can think of if you live in town. My brother jogs 2 miles a day with them, and they're still crazy even after running around the back yard that is fenced in. They can jump REALLY high...so get a 6' fence, but I would never trust one off of a leash. All 3 were gotten as babies and my brother trains his border collies really well...but the huskies are just CRAZY!
I wouldn't recommend them to anyone...a border collie is great, a lab is great...and I have a cute little weiner dog (dachshund) that is wonderful. Give one of those a try! LOL!
Good luck!

Research research research - If you are up to working with and training a high drive, high energy canine that has been bred to be a working dog pulling sleds they are great dogs. They have a very high prey drive - being off leash no matter how well trained may always be a risk. Why don't you visit AKC.org and browse through canine breeds and traits - no one can tell you what the best dog for YOU is - only you know....

i had one (lost to cancer a few days ago) and she was the best dog ever. really the only problem i had with her was that when she was a pup she had springs for legs and occasionally jumped the fence and only ran away once. but then we started exercising her more and she dumped that habit. after she got older we trained her very quickly to stay in our front yard if we opened the garage door and went inside for however long! but she had a little help learning from our dog Dazzy lol. they're quick learners and just plain lover dogs. i ve been looking to buy i new one and prices range from $150-$1000 and shipping is about $250 sooooo hopefully thats a bit of help=]
( didnt i answer 1 of ur questions...? huh interesting)
and they only get to be 50-60 pounds

NEVER off leash......they can run...but their homing skills are nada. Like a 3 year old...escape artists, and always testing you. You can never let your guard down. If you need exercise..this is the dog for you. If you love to laugh..this is the dog. If you can appreciate a beautiful Houdini that never lets up...go for it.....
Its a commitment that I have been in for many years with many animals.....worth every minute.

oh i can't pass up the chance to brag about my husky, alex!! she has so much *spirit*...these dogs are just so full of personality and so expressive. just loooves to walk and loves to meet everybody. she's extemely friendly towards people but not cat-friendly. huskies are very fast and likely to run away so keep them in a high-fenced yard, NEVER take them off the leash when you are walking them. they will run, and run, and run. but i just adore alex she is my baby.

Siberian huskies are great hunters. If they run away its usually that they are giving chase, not that they are not loyal. But with this type of characteristic, I would suggest always leashing your dog for his safety and the safety of all those innocent little squirrels, birds, lap dogs, cats, etc. etc. etc.
