We want to go long form this year. I paid thousands in medical bills & we also bought a house in 2006 & think we can get a good refund, but we need to know which tax program we should use. If someone could recomend one it would be a big help! Thank You!!!

Use TurboTax online. It's only $15 and they save your past returns and can import your information from one year to the next. They also automatically input your w2 info if your company allows that service.

There is no reason to go to a tax advisor. I used to long-hand all my tax forms....1040, schedule b,c,d, 8880, and 8863, as well as 1120S, and K-1, but I started using Turbotax and it knows to do all the same forms by asking you simple easier to answer questions, and my returns are the same.

I would go to a cpa with your return. H&R Block won't maximize your refund. You could use turbotax, but I would advise against it, because of the house purchase which almost assuredly has grey area items on the closing papers as well as straightforward deductions that won't make it onto your mortgage statement or your 1098.

TurboTax sucks. If you can't figure out the forms on your own, go to a small CPA firm & pay a pro. Don't go to H&R Blockheads or any other "tax service" either. They are mainly loan sharks.

Btw, if you get a big refund, you need to modify your W-4s at work. See the IRS withholding calculator below:

I am an accountant have been using turbo tax products for years and would recommend them. but, since you are in new territory now w/ the medical bills and new house, I would recommend having a pro do your taxes for 2006. softwares are fine, but if you input garbage then you will get back garbage and not know it.
i.e. you dont know what you dont know. contact me, I will
do your taxes for a reasonable fee. Rich.
