Show them you are responsible. Follow their rules, do well in school, do chores without being asked, etc.

Volunteer at the animal shelter. If you stick with it and do a good job, your parents may start to understand how serious you are and how dedicated you can be.

First, think about your responsibilities. Are you prepared to feed it, walk it, water it, and groom it everyday? Maybe your parents don't want to give you a dog because of your grades. Are your grades good enough? Also, try to bring up the subject at dinner. Try and research the behaviors of the breed of dog you want. If you don't want a purebred, ask your parents to drive you to the shelter. Normally they let you take dogs for little mini walks, or let you play with the dog in an enclosed yard. Also, according to the breeds' size, there are different grooming, walking, feeding, and space requirements. Take Yorkies, for instance. They need a moderate amount of space to play, minimal food requirements, and a LOT of exercise and grooming. I suggest going to your closest Border's or the library and getting a dog encyclopedia. They give useful information, and also how the breed developed. I hope this helped!

Try convincing your parents by telling them that you will take care of it also another thing that i did to convince my parents on getting me a kitten is that i would clean the house and do dishes for them, and begging them like saying"oh,please i had never had a kitten before and really want one" and guess what i got one it also work with my cockatiel Mama.

!!!!!Good luck!!!!!

I would suggest researching breeds to find the dog that's perfect for your family and you. Then show your more sensitive parent the adorable puppy picture and a list of breeders in your area. Maybe the research combined with cute puppy pictures would help.

Keep positive, and show you are serious by giving up something else in your life to have a pet.
But---if they refuse, don't let that change your desires. When you are an adult, you can have the pets you want. Focus on the future, and decide there will be dogs in it, SOMEHOW, even if you have to wait.

All it really takes is to show your parents that you are responsible enough to handle a dog.. To feed and water and make sure to give him bathroom breaks or train him inside to tell you when he has to go... 9/10 your parents will let you if you do that...

You need a lot of reasoning in this process. Tell them that you will be the one training it, and walking and feeding it everyday....not them. and you will make sure that you keep it clean and smelling good in the house. If you have money... a good way for them to say yes would be to pay half of their vet bills and for all of there toys food and so on.
