NO SCRIPTURAL QUOTES PLEASE!!!

And I know it's tempting but please, serious answers only

Frankly Joshua1:8,
This question is designed to make people THINK rather than blindly quoting. Knowing scripture is nothing if you can't apply it's wisdom to your actions in everyday life.

Serious answers only is because these questions rapidly turn into school playground bickering sessions.

I want people to show their common good instead of judging each other. People on here rise to the challenge pretty well, don't you think?

Also, did I say,

"be sure to leave out your beliefs, religion, philosophy and on and on and on."?

I said open to all......without blaming any race or faith.......

The name of your faith is of little importance, your heart and soul and thoughts and actions are of every importance. It's through them that you show your faith. Do you disagree?

I don't think anybody has given a bad answer and the one little quote that popped it's head in was a good one that could have been spoken by any of us.

gnos could have got best answer as it's very close to the mark but the answer needs to be more specific. No, I'm not biased because gnos and I share the same faith.

we all need to stop letting money run our lives and enjoy what we have rather than wish we had more... that goes for everything, government as well

I think there is too much greed, violence and aggression in our world. I also think we need to address global warming or risk being the cause of our own extinction.

I was watching an interview with Buddhist Nun Pema Chodron on Bill Moyer earlier and I agreed with her when she said, if we'd all learn to control our reactions to the situations and people around us (by being more mindful and by learning when to notice when we've been bated) we'd be more mindful individuals and would think about our actions and how they impact us, our families, our neighborhoods, our cities, and ultimately our world. Change starts with the individual. That's the difficult part. It would be naive to think that all individuals could contribute merely by thinking through their actions, but if we each did our part, things could change. I think governments will have to impose change in order to help stop global warming and I think politicians and policy makers would benefit from thinking how their actions benefit everyone and not just themselves and their cronies. There are no easy answers or solutions. We're all going to have to do our part or we can never solve the problems I've listed above.

A lack of compassion and reasonable thinking is what's wrong. We can fix it by being more open-minded to others and realize that the only way improvements can be made is if we work together for the betterment of society.

I know it sounds idealistic but if we think of this and dismiss it as impossible then it will be impossible. We have to start by making the change on an individual level and it will eventually grow from there.

Hi,

Good Question!

I believe ignorance and hatred are the two main causes for ruining up the entire world.

The stronger is oppressing the weaker and still yells "Hey I am doing this for my safety!!!"

People blame Islam for Terrorism and some ignorant people just blindly follow what CNN r BBC shows them. How can a religion that itself means 'PEACE' be responsible for Terrorism???

As what i said, sheer ignorance has lead to this wave of insulting islam and hurting people's feelings. Take the YA for example, you will find its mostly the Christians that abuse Islam. Rarely you will find a Muslim doing that.

This ignorance is multiplied by the hatred which one father passes it to his son, without making him understand what lies on the other side??

So, if the people shed this hatred aside and come to a dialogue that is based on logical arguments, i believe All the problems can be solved...

PEACE BE WITH ALL OF YOU...

The thing about people today is that they are living in a dream or "false" life. We wake up, go to school or work, then go home or do something, and then go to sleep, and then repeat the same day but in a different fashion. People might say something else about whats wrong with the world but never blame their self. And truly that's what's wrong with the world. People just don't know and don't care.

Lack of respect. Lack of do unto others as you would have done to you. People have disregarded these things which are basic common sense. Now, that isn't saying that even with those you cannot have differences of opinion because you can; it's just that when you get back to basics respect for that around you becomes a natural state.

In my part of the world everybody is too busy working trying to make ends meet. You have kids basically raising themselves with no guidance. Another thing is technology has made our world smaller in respect to political perspectives and people are easily influenced by those perspectives the media chooses to embellish whether it's Al Jazeera or CNN.

To me, its the lack of morals that people have these days. A lot of people are lazy too...Very few people are willing to work hard to make a living. People want the easy way out, and instead of finding a job, they are content with being on welfare. My theory is not limited to people on welfare either. What about these spoiled rich kids that live off their parents money and never do anything with their life? People aren't motivated and are quite content with just sliding by. There are exceptions to each of these things though, but in general, people do the least amount of work possible, and will do anything to make a quick buck, like stealing from people who do actually work.

Our society is also spoiled...

Take personal responsibility , live in the present and behave in a compassionate and non-violent way. Because the concept that there are others is wrong, thats a start. Think about who you are. Ask yourself that question and look inside. There are no others , there is only one. See Osho.com

I know it's a scripture, but it could solve a lot of problems if we just followed the rules of the Bible, Coran, or laws written by man..

Love thy neighbor as thyself. Simple.

Good question, and some very good answers!

What is wrong with the world is that its being ruled by Satan and imperfect humans. We're alienated from God at the moment. We can't really do anything to make things better...God will take care of that. But living our lives in harmony with God's will makes it easier to bear up under the pressure of life in the present arrangement of things.
