I currently have a UTI and I really would like to avoid taking antibiotics because I have problems with them. It has not progressed to a really bad stage. There's burning when I'm almost done peeing and a slight feverish feeling.

Does D-Mannose work CURRENTLY for a UTI? Should I be taking Vitamin C tablets or cranberry pills? Is it okay to take both at the same time?

Cranberry juice is effective as a preventative measure against UTI's and in the early stages. Many women keep a reserve of Cranberry juice in the pantry, because it works best to catch these things right away. However, if you're running a true fever already, cranberry juice may only provide slight relief, if at all at this point. If you are truly feverish, you should call your doctor right away so the infection does not enter your kidneys. If you're truly feverish, then its progressing quickly to a "bad stage". You don't want to end up in the hospital for treatment when antibiotics can treat it. Tell your doctor about your problems with antibiotics so he/ she can prescribe the right one.

Hi there. UTI's are miserable. Antibiotics are urgently needed . Cranberry products help but don't cure. Most UTI's are caused by the bacteria E.coli Antibiotics are for bacterial infections. You can request a cheaper antibiotic if cost is a factor. Be sure you don't have an STD which can mimic a UTI. Call your local health department for a cheap clinic. Untreated UTI's have the potential to progress to kidney infections. Take care of yourself because you are worth it. If yeast infections plague you with antibiotics, you can be given a medication for that.

This should help -- drink dark red or purple juices, like cranberry or pomegranate juice. I don't know anything about D-Mannos, but I have a friend who gets UTIs and she drinks lots of juice, eats yogurt, and takes a mult-vitamin along with goldenseal and licorice root. I heard oil of oregano pills are good, too. Drink lots of water. If you're not feeling relief in a couple of days, you may have to just go to the doctor. Good luck!

Antibiotics can cause an imbalance in the friendly and harmful bacteria in you. One good trick I recently I found out is that if you really have to take antibiotics is to eat some unsweetened yoghurt (which contains friendly bacteria).

Another prevention for UTI is to take probiotics for supplements.

Detoxification of toxins also helps on a regular basis.

All these other answers are helpful for PREVENTION! If, as you say, you curently have a UTI, you must have it treated by a doctor.

What specific problems do you have with antibiotics? I would very much like to address them.

Only an antibiotic will kill the infection. If you do not kill the infection it can get worse and spread to bladder and kidneys. Try AZO for pain. It is sold over the counter at pharmacies and it works great. But you do need the antibiotic.
