you will have to look up the code Gy and see what it means, don't jump to conclusions until you check out the paint code.

In all likely hood, when the original title was typed, the wrong color was used. It's called a "typo" !!! Most states won't change the color on the title because as others stated, it can be painted. You may be able to correct the title for a fee in some states, I do not know. If it has always been titled in one state, the state can research it to see what the original paperwork said. But the original Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin" (MCO) does not have the color of the vehicle, it is the person or dealer who gave the motor vehicle the information that informs them of the color. If that paperwork says grey, then it will be harder to change the color on your title. If they paperwork says it was white, and it was a DMV error, it is easier, and some states won't even charge you for the corrected title since it was their mistake in the first place. There may be certain procedures you have to do to change the color, different states have different rules and regulations.
Unfortunately now a days, manufacturers are using all sorts of names as colors, and the DMV doesn't have that selection on their list. Example crimson, sandalwood, calypso, hunter, midnight are just a few that I have seen. Red, beige, green, green and blue. (Yes, calypso was green!)
Check with your state and see if you can get the title changed.

the reason that your title says that is because somebody told the dmv grey when they asked the car color or the person that inputs the info messed up. you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever due to the fact that people paint cars different colors everyday. the main focus on your title is the Vin number which stands for vehicle identification number located at the lower drivers side of the windshield, actually attached to your dash. as long as this number matches the one on the title nobody can contest that the title is not correct.

Yes you could have a problem, what if you want to sell it? If you got it from a dealer ask them if not just go to dmv and point out the mistake THEY made!
