I ran out of my prescription, missed two days, and can't get more for another day. I am feeling dizzy and am wondering if I should worry about any other withdrawal side effects happening.
Any help would be much appreciated!

The first answer is absolutely right, you shouldn't stop taking your meds cold turkey, contact your Doctor right away to either get a new 'scrip or some samples to tide you over. If you can't contact the Doc, you might call your pharmacy and ask them for enough to last the weekend until you can arrange for a refill. They'll usually help you out in such a situation.

Here's a link for you, page down to "What happens when I stop using EFFEXOR XR?" and read more about it. If you know the symptoms, you'll be better able to recognize them for what they are and deal with them in a positive manner.

Good luck!

Dear Dizzy, I feel for you as I have been there myself. I have even heard of patients having flu like symptoms from suddenly stopping an anti-depressant. Take care, get your script filled ASAP, avoid any stresses that you can untill then, relax, and I will be thinking of you! P.S. I loved Effexor worked great for me, hope it is the same for you.

I didn't take it for a year, but I did stop it cold-turkey. I remember feeling dizzy and drinking A LOT of coffee. I wouldn't be worried about doing damage to yourself though, and actually, if you feel like you can go without it, I would recommend you not renew your prescription

you are likely going to be ok. There is a serotonin withdrawal syndrome that can occur on rare occasions you should check that out just in case you develop any of those symptoms.

Call your doctor's office and see if they can give you some samples to tide you over; it can be very hazardous to stop taking your meds like that! You have to be weaned off of antidepressants to avoid side effects.
