Is your puppy going after the socks when they are on or off your children's feet? Our 4 month old English Toy Spaniel likes to grab panties from the laundry pile (no joke). When we catch him, we take the panty away, tell him "no" in a firm voice, then hand him a toy or something that is ok for him to have. If your pup is going after the socks when they are on your children's feet, try spraying the socks with something to deter the sock chewing ... there is a bitter apple spray & other products to keep horses from chewing fences, etc, which should work, or perfume/cologne (strong perfume smell/taste will deter him from going for the socks)

My experience with raising puppies is to provide LOTS of toys that are ok to chew on so that they won't chew on things they shouldn't. Also puppy/dog obedience classes are good to enroll in as they will give you access to a professional trainer who can help you with specific problems as well as general training. Check w/ your vet, yellow pages, or local animal shelter for dog classes & trainers in your area.

Start him in a puppy class for basic obedience and manners as soon as possible. Eating socks is a very bad habit - that many dogs have - and can lead to fatal blockages (the socks get stuck in the intestinal track) If the kids are wearing the socks when he goes after them talk to a trainer who can give you tips re: teaching your puppy that his place is at the bottom of the 'pack'. Good Luck - Shar Peis can be wonderful companions with the right guidance :)

Hi
He is going after the socks because he wants to play. My puppy is 10 months old and likes to carry many things around!
You have to have patience...that is the key..a 10 week old puppy is not wild, he is learning new things, testing how far he can go, and really at that age they are discovering everything. If you don't want her to play with socks..give her something soft she can play with. Good luck to you..

He's a baby and not only does he like to play, but he is cutting his teeth. it is your job to keep all these things away from him. Give him lots of rawhide chew bones and toys. He will grow up so fast you will miss the puppy someday, Be a responsible puppy owner and keep everything he is not supposed to have out of his reach and enjoy the little guy....How Sweet, have lots of fun with him.

5-6 hours is a dangerously lengthy time period for her to depart them on my own. you could make selfmade formula, locate it on the internet, from evaporated milk, water, egg white and karo syrup. I used this lately to develop 6 abandoned domestic dogs (both I kept are literally 30 lbs. at 4 months!). you would pick to plug in an electric powered heating pad with a towel over it. The doggies will die in the journey that they get chilled. they could't digest milk at the same time as they're chilly and so that they develop into hypoglycemic and fade. you could placed a dab of karo syrup on their tongues in the journey that they commence to vanish and then you want to feed them with a bottle asap. look up practise on the internet- feeding orphaned domestic dogs- that would favor to get you lots of websites. i'm no longer positive about the thanks to rigidity a mama canines to nurse her doggies. you need to be in a position to locate the solutions from different posters.

Well he is a puppy and wants to play like a 2-5 yr old kid
if you dob't want jim into socks, put them away.
but he will only find something else, you better buy him a bunch of Chew toys to play with or he will eat your sofa.

He will calm down when he gets older like 4 or 5 years old in your years, not his.

He is a baby and they chew up stuff and slobber and get into trouble. When he is a year old he will start to grow up.
I think 1 year is like 7 in people years.

The fastest and most affective way is a shock collar.....It may sound bad but it works. You see dogs have a simple mind. If they learn that doing somthing gets them hurt then they wont do it.
