Yes.

The Catholic Church believes that "Only God forgives sin."

When a penitent person asks God for forgiveness, his (or her) sins are immediately forgiven.

Catholics also believe that when someone sins they not only hurt their relationship with God, they also injure the entire church, the body of Christ.

Jesus said, "I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19)

And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,"Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." (Luke 20:22-23)

The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation with a priest ordained in the name of Jesus Christ not only reconciles the sinner to God but with the entire church, including you and me.

With love in Christ.

Yes. They were pennitent and remorseful for their sin (I'm assuming if they were on their way to confession).

I was raised Catholic and was taught that yes you need to confess, but the feeling behind it is what's important. If you confess but do not truly feel remorse for what you've done then you haven't truly repented. The God I learned about is a merciful god and if you are sorry for what you've done He will forgive you, whether you discuss your sin with another human being or not.

You have to tell me whether and which side of the date line the car was on. How long since the last confession. And, if the sin load had venial or mortal sins. How many? Also were they active or thought sins.

If the person is protestant apparently all the person in the car would have to do is scream Jesus......and it's right to the up elevator. Especially if Half the last paycheck went to Rev. Falwell.

The Father knows the intentions of the heart and would likely be considered as though the person went to confession. Catholics are Christians par excellence thank you.

Depends on the person. God knows the person's heart. Whether he made it to confession or not is unimportant; what I see is the willingness to confess one's sins to who they believe is God's representative, a devoutness God will undoubtably reward.

We all sin, and we all eventually die. Whether you go to heaven or not depends on whether you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour. He died to make atonement for all your sins. Have you accepted His free gift?
