You do not need to go to church every Sunday to be a true christian. Titus 3:5 says, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" Ephesians 2:8-9 say, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." This means that not only do you not have to go to church, but you don't have to get baptised, and you don't have to take communion, and you don't have to be a member of the church, and even though it's the right thing to do, you don't have to be a good person and read your bible.
However, Romans 3:23 says, for ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:10 says, there is none righteous, no not one., and Isaiah 53:6 says, All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Okay, right so we all are bad people, now what? Well, there's some bad news that goes along with that. Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death. Great now, you have to die??? if you continue reading the rest of Romans 6:23, you see that the gift of God is eternal life. Eternal life in heaven is God's FREE gift to you, no strings attatched, HONEST.
John 3:3 says Verily verily I say unto you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:4-5 go on into how Nicodemus is asking Jesus how can you be born a second time? Jesus says that you have to be born of natural birth and of the spirit. Okay, now so If baptism can't get me to heaven, how else am I going to be born of the spirit??? Romans 10:9-10 says That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Hebrews 9:22 says And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. That means that you are not forgiven without blood. Jesus lived a perfect life and gave his life as the ultimate sacrifice for your sins.
I bet you're thinking, It can't possibly be this easy, but it is, it really is THAT EASY. All you have to do is pray to God covering the topics of....
1. You know you are a sinner
2. You know that you deserve to die forever because of your sin
3. You believe Jesus lived a perfect life on Earth
4. You believe Jesus died on the cross and rose again, and that his blood is THE perfect atonement for your sin.
5. You accept God's free gift of eternal life in heaven
Now, about church, it's good to go, because you can grow as a christian, but, it isn't what makes you a christian. Salvation is what makes you a christian, and no one can stop you from having it other than you. Nobody can take it away from you, God WON'T (he refuses), other people can't, and you can't.
God bless your soul

Ephesians 4 speaks of the unity in the body of Christ.
Romans 12 specifically verses 4 -5
1 Corinthians specifically - Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.

You are correct in saying each person has an individual relationship with God that is personal. However, Christians need to fellowship for support, encouragement and spiritual growth. No, you do not need to be there every time the door is open as long as you have a good connection with your church family. Some Christians are fooled into believing they do not need anyone else when it comes to their faith and that is the pride before the fall. Satan looks for the one who has strayed away from the fire. The further away one gets the easier it is for satan to move. Another point is accountability in your christian walk. Surrounding oneself with like minded strengthens and edifies ones spirit. I do not consider myself to be a church person but I am wise enough to stay close to the fire with the rest of the group. Hope this helps you sort things through. Most people will not understand your viewpoint on this so do not even try to explain. Your heart is what matters to God.

Don't listen to them!! You have more that attend a church service once, twice, or three times a week that are NOT true Christians; they go for the "look see I attend church". No where in the New Testament does God demand us to go to the temple. Where in the Old Testament God always demanded the people to go to the temple to worship Him. Why the difference from Old to New Testament is because Jesus Christ is now residing within us, along with the Holy Spirit. The "temple" is US!! We can worship God any time and any where because we are the "temple".

Some will use the passage about "not to forsake the assembly"... this is for "fellowship" not "worship". There is a big difference between the two.

Do you have Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If you answered yes, then you are a true believer of the living God. You have nothing to worry about.

Tell those people to jump off a bridge. A church is just a building. You can study the bible at home if you like. It's the effort that counts, not the location. Those people are just telling you that because they're fake, not you! Don't you think God probably judges on the things you do, the way you live your life and your relationship with Him? Do you really think He cares if you're at some building at 9am on the dot on Sunday morning but break every commandment in the bible? He's not that black & white. Anyone who tells you that you aren't a "true Christian" isn't a true anything themself. They're judging and that's a no no. Tell that to those self righteous morons. You go on living your life the best way you can and for God's sake, stop listening to other people!

Your prayers will be heard in the Church.....God's Home. In the Bible, it is told to pray where ever you go, but going to Church, confessing your sins is vital. In my Armenian Church, the entire Holy Divine Liturgy is based on the creation of the Holy Communion....the body and blood of Christ, which is later eaten after 24 hours of fasting (I do it ever week and it ain't easy at all) Being a true Christian IS attending Church, but that sole fact doesn't mean you are a True Christian. I believe I am a True Christian because Christianity is a life style; people say and BELIEVE WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) and other phrases of that nature, really do live the Christian life. I highly recommended going to Church. You must think I've been going to Church my whole life, but the truth is that I began going a year ago, and I truly cannot tell you how much my relationship with God and the Savior Jesus Christ has grown. Now, I am even on the Church altar. I must tell you to start going to Church, its only one day a week, but a Holy Day.....God's Day.

I hope this helps.

Depends on what kind of a "christian" you are. My bible says a christian is a person who has given their life to the Lord, repented of their sins, and asked him to come into their heart. You don't become a christian by just doing right and going to church! So, you don't have to be in church every time the doors are open, but the bible does say we are to go and fellowship with fellow believers. The best way to do that is going to church!! That help you any??

excellent question!

Jesus told us that wherever two or three people gather in his name, he will be there. Being a Christian is about loving the Lord and loving your neighbors, about striving to obey God and to serve those less fortunate than you, about being part of a worldwide community of Christians who can all gather together for support and celebration.

It is NOT about going to some building once a week, mumbling some hymns (or even enthusiastically shouting out those hymns), going through a few motions, then going home and continuing like nothing happened. The word in the New Testament that is translated as "Church" is ekklesia, which simply means an assembly or a gathering of people. It is not a building. The Church is wherever believers assemble to do the Lord's work.

While we are told to fellowship with one another in order to build each other up and encourage one another I don't believe entering a church building weekly makes you more or less of a Christian.

Although, I will say, relying on my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ does make me stronger, I have never found anything in Scripture that makes attendance mandatory.

If you believe Christ died to take away our sins and try to follow His teachings as best you can, then keep on doing that. Only God can look upon the heart.

God bless.

I don't go to chruch but that don't mean it is right to not go...We are not to forsake the Assembly of others,,meaning we go to chruch to learn and to gather with friends...As long as you are still seeking the Lord and praying and being obeident to Him...Church really is in your heart where Jesus is there is church...we go to church for help and guidance,,I am sure you don't know every detail of the bible and there are answers in the church...don't stop seeking the Lord,,just because one says no,,remember we serve a mighty God and He can do the impossible...

It depends on the denomination, I think. Some Christians are totally okay with that, as long as you still love God and Jesus. Others would definitely frown upon that. It depends on who you're asking, and what sort of Christianity you follow.

Personally, I believe that it's totally okay not to go to church. You're can still be true to your religion.
