I'm not sure that makes sense, but when I got back into the document to make changes, it "eats" the next word. What setting or tool do I use to change this ? thank you ahead of time. 56 year old brain here, that is my current excuse :)

Once inside the document, pressing the 'Insert' key on your keyboard one time should fix this.

what you need to do is hit the insert button on your keyboard. if you look at the bottom of your microsoft word document, you should see all these letter options that are faded away. You will see that "OVR" is in black. This is why you are eating your letters as you type. Hit "insert" and you will see the letter "OVR" disappear, and the problem will be solved!

Hope this helps!

This isn't a setting on the software. Find the button on your keyboard marked "insert" and press it. It's a toggle switch which is currently set in the "off" position. Press it again, turn it on, and you'll be able to type inserted text (without overwriting it.)

Best of luck!

when this situation appears, usually it means that you may have pressed the insert button, it'll make what you type in between characters(words, alphabets etc.) replace the one next to it...or as you say "eats" the next word...press the insert button on your keyboard to turn off this feature..

Maybe you just hit the insert button?

Just hit the insert button. If you don't know where it is, it's just above the Delete button. :)
