How about moving the lamp farther and farther away each night. Is it possible to transition to a dimmer bulb. Another idea is to make a story book about her and her light and how eventually she doesn't need a light. In special education we call this a social story. Use actual photos of your daughter in her room, in bed, with and without the lamp. I'm sure she will love taking the pictures with you.

Well, put the lowest watt bulb into the lamp, and leave it at that! That is not a serious problem. A lot of people are like that! There are far worse things you could be dealing with, like night terrors, where the child wakes up screaming and crying. I wouldn't bother about this little thing! Let her have her lamp, if it gives her comfort! Let it be!

try purchasing a small reading lamp and placing a low watt bulb in it for a substitution or buying a night light with a clear cover or face plate that produces a little extra light but mostly just give her time most children grow out of the stage where they need a night light

thats not a big deal, other than your electric bill probably. haha just very low wattage in the lamp. buy a dim light bulb, and leave it at that. sooner than later they will start using just a night light. till then, use a dim light bulb in the lamp. good luck!

Let her have the lamp and thank God that she is sleeping through the night. Someday she will grow out of it, is it really that big of a deal?

ask her why she likes the light on and if it's a good reason than let it go. she'll get over it OR let her pick out a really cool night light and praise her whenever she uses only the night light.
or put a burnt out balb in the lamp and tell her she'll have to use the night light until you can get to the store to get a new balb for hers.

Let her be, you could do more harm than good trying to stop this. She is scared and there is nothing wrong with it. I slept with a light on till I was almost 12. It is OK.

Use a fluorescent bulb...they use way less energy....no problem. I would just let her keep the light until she is much older. What can it hurt? It makes her feel safe.
