Do you realize that most of the things you think you know about the devil comes from medieval literature not the Bible
....even what he looks like was based on "Pan" and "dionysus", fertility gods so Pagans would convert to Christianity....

Don't you think your too old to be afraid of Boogie men?
It's time man took responsibility for the things you blame on the devil.
P.S not everything is evil!!!

In every struggle, there's a bad guy. Satan happens to be that bad guy for some people. Satan only has a much power as you let him have. I don't think he's in music or any crap like that. That's just some people trying to censor what they don't like. I know what you mean though. I can't stand the idiots who say "The devil tempted me to do this" or "The devil made me do it". That's not true. Just say you're an a**hole and you did something crappy. THAT I can understand. Don't use the devil as a scapegoat. You're in control of your own actions.

Don't you love how the Christians who responded to this glazed over the fact that the Pagan Gods were used to create the image of Satan?

Satan is just an explanation as to why bad things happen. He's especially useful when Christians can't come up with a logical come-back "You non-believers only believe the things you do because Satan is deceiving you!"

Most things about the fallen angels in modern culture are derived from Hollywood's misconceptions.

The reason "the devil" get's the blame? Read the first Book of Enoch.

However, you are right about the responsibility thing. Darkness just tempts. Humans do the dirty deeds.

So mostly "the devil" takes the blame because people don't want to take responsibility for their actions. They can then say,

"He made me do it!"

The fallen angels are playing a game with humans but the human race is too dumb to see it.Their not wrong to do so because they do so with God's permission.

Read the Book of Job.

I would suggest you don't try to ally yourself to Darkness though because that annoys the fallen the most. I have a huge ammount of experience of this stuff and if I were to share what I know, they'd be on me like Hell.

But don't kid yourself about why you wrote this question or why you chose that avatar.

Wow the anger and animosity just seethes from you.
I do not blame Satan for everything and neither do most responsible adults.
The 'appearance' of evil incarnate will always be a characterictic symbol.
The reason many blame Satan for things is that they cannot conceive of the fact that most things in life are self created and they cannot handle that fact. The same reason angry social misfits blame Christians or the government for their problems, so do some Christians blame Satan for all their own faults.
Not everything is evil that is a given. But you need to understand that evil is indeed real and not to be trivialized. But the boogie man image only resides in certian minds. One must realize where evil Truly exists. What drives it, and how it effects ones life. Once a person realizes that they understand it is in their heart that Satan resides. He hides behind your anger and your fears.
Just as Christ lives in your heart of hopes and love so does Satan exist in each person.
This is a hard responsiblity for some people to accept.
Are you prepared for what this Truly implicates?
The Bible tells us that it is man and his desire for evil that brings upon many of the horrible things in life. It is mankind's refusal to turn toward God that continues the course of action into Armageddon.

I do not blame Satan for everything. I do not believe Satan looks like Pan or Dionusus.

The Boogie man does not exist.

Man can be pretty evil without Satanic influence.

I do not beleive eveything is evil.
See? We agree on some things!

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

You are gonna get flamed all over by ignorant people and crazy fundamentalists for this question.
But I totally understand, look at how the word devil is spelled- D Evil. People forget that God didn't write the bible People did and they put in their perspectives and discrimination and hate and superstitions into it.

People are never gonna want to take responsiblity for themselves when it's easier to blame others for being different or justifying their bad behavior is accepted.
Look at Ted Haggard the Evangelical leader who took LSD and paid a man for gay sex. C'mon, Christians are the most hypocritical ignorant morons out there-not to say that other religions are better. But remember that Christianity started out as a cult and it still is-look at the way they preach, and use shame and exclusion, and take tithes. Just another cult by any other name.

Actually that there devil has a mighty small tool box. But it's a real effective one. Sort of like a roll of duck tape and an straightened out fish hook. I can see a lot of Satan round here. But a lot more people actin up like their flesh is all in charge like pigs do. You know just five senses. But I have to admit the pigs got a hoof up on a lot of them. They can't lie. Nope I rekon Satan aint the cause of every thing we don't like. It be mostly pride and selfishness dat be da main malfunction.

Boy Howdy.

THe devil and the angel ( evil & good) are in all human beings. There is nothing like devil except our human nature. Some do evil things and others desist. There is no use in blaming an external agent.
