Pushing you in operation theatre is always profitable for doctors. This problem has arised due to imbalance between five energies of Vital energy in our body. If this balance is restored problem disappears.
Acupuncture restores this balance. If it fails then it is a mechanical problem such as pinched nerve, slip disc etc.
Many times problem transfers to other hand and you will surprise. So first approach an expert acupuncturist. Silly governments don't support it hence insurance will not help you.

Sounds like a complicated case you have going here. Is there any tingling in your arms or legs? Do you have all feeling to your arms and legs? what I would do is go see your doctor and ask him/her to refer you to a neurologist because a neurologist can figure out how much nerve damage you have and maybe a orthopedic doctor you may end up going to to get full range of your shoulder and hand back. A neurologist can run test to figure out the descent of the nerves and the possible damage you might have. If you don't have health insurance like many most Americans then see if you can go to a free clinic somewhere or try a acupuncturists they are great to. Or maybe go to a physical therapist to get the range in your arm back to normal. these are all ideas. Also you can always talk to a nurse practitioner and what they are is a helping hand to the doctor they can diagnose some things, run tests and prescribe medicine but if they have any concerns then they will ask the doctor that is there. I hope you feel better.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.
