i had a Siberian Husky and she LOVED to get attention, play, sleep with me, and was up and willing to do anything with me. The sweetest dog in my eyes=] and i never once saw her growl except when a dog came after me to bite me! she even got in front of me and the dog ended up biting her! she was absolutely phenomenal! but i have heard of Siberians being mean but that had to do with the way she was raised. but golden retrievers are great too. try puppyfind.com they have every breed a description and dogs & puppies for sale it's a great website

Out of personal experience, I've found that hound dogs, especially beagles are good with other pets and people. they are kind and love attention. Perhaps not a guard dog like a Rotty or a pit bull but they bay a lot and that's certainly something that'll keep you on your toes if you've got people always snooping around your house. Despite their small size (Whether it be the smaller kind or the larger one) they have deep loud voices. Another good dog is a Bull dog. Be advised though to keep an eye on their health if you consider this one.

The breed is not as important as the personality of the dog. Look for a dog that goes well with your personalty type (are you hyper, do you need an active dog - or are you layed back and need a calmer dog)..plus look for one that has been raised around cats.
Any dog that bonds with you will be protective.

A Little Winner Dwagg (Mini Doxie).... They are little clowns and with their little short legs keep you in a constant stare of laughter... They have adorable personalities and are just the best for cuddling...If it a choice he gets the blanked ... The may me short on legs but go gave'em a great big heart and it full of unconditional love right to the very end...If I ever get the chance I will get another... They are great attention getter and soak up every last bit they get...Trust me on this ...You won't be sorry

Try meeting up with some dogs at a local animal shelter or rescue. A proper animal rescue will be able to help set you up with the appropriate dog for your family.
Take your other dog with you, to make sure they will get along great.
Do a good deed and save a life!

I have a 2 year old Shih Tzu and he is the most loving dog. He's great with other dogs and he loves to sit on my lap and sleep with me.

Golden Retriever. They are intelligent, love humans, loyal, and the best dogs of all time. They love people very much. They're affectionate and they love to swim. It's the perfect family dog.

it all depends on your lifestyle. if you lead an active lifestyle, a german shepard or an austrailian shepard would be good for you. if you want some thing a little more low key, a rotweiler or a hound. good luck with your search hope this helps
