If your talking about their briefcases that they carry with them on every flight, this is what's in them:

-Passport
-Airline ID
-Airport Badge
-Airline Log book
-Medications (in case they get sick - all in powder or pill form, such as headache medicine, medicine for an upset tummy, gas medicine, pain medicine)
-Book to read (something to occupy them when they aren't busy)
-Personal effects (keys, wallet, cologne, sunglasses, gum)
-Provisions in case they get stranded (toothbrush & that sort)
-Pens
-Highlighter
-Meal coupons (in case they want to eat while on the flight - they don't get the airline food for free)
-Work documents
-Calculator
-Communication System Disinfection wipes (to clean the headsets)

If you're talking about suitcases that they take on overnight or trips where they are gone for a few days (REMEMBER: they still keep their briefcase with them):

-Change of clothes, including underwear and socks (how many depends on how long they'll be gone)
-Shoes
-An extra work shirt to wear on the return trip

In case you're interested in seeing what a cockpit looks like during a flight, here are some pics of my husband flying (and that's me in the cockpit with him and the captain) http://flickr.com/photos/jamie_hassen/sets/72157594552581082/

Everything they need for staying the night in the place there flying. Clothes toothbrush etc. And I'm not completely sure, but some carry firearms for protection.

They carry the same thing that you carry. Remember that they have to stay for long periods away from home. So they just carry a little more stuff.

They carry exactly what you would carry for an overnight trip. A change of clothes, a toothbrush, razor, underwear, book....
