First off I want to say that the people on top saying all those negative things don't know what they are talking about, I actually have puggle, so I know what I am talking about. Some of those people were seriously dog snobs, I was so excited when I read this! I have a puggle, but he is a boy named Rufus. Basically be prepared for a very lively little puppy, most puppies are, puggles are extremely loving, they love to be around people and can easily be trained if you have food because they loooove to eat. My puggle is two now and is a perfect lap dog, he is actually sleeping right next to me as I type this. Basically you could compare this dog to a smaller version of a lab, by its personality and playfulness. I like to take mine on walks whenever I can and that helps get rid of some of the energy they have in the beginning. As far as barking, mine did not bark once the first six months I had him. He barks now, but only when he sees someone at the door and to get my attention, nothing excessive. I know that male and female dogs can have different temperments, but in my opinion puggles are the best little dogs, I am excited for you! another thing, they like to roam, so don't let them loose in the yard, they literally follow their noses everywhere.

A puggle is NOT a breed. It is a mix, plain and simple. There are no standard, no lines, and no idea whatsoever as to general temperment or health complications.

As one person pointed out, why are you getting one when you have no idea what you're getting into? Research people! 'Till you can't stand the sight of information! This is the reason so many animals are in shelters.

Your best bet: Meet the parents. Research both breeds that have gone into the pup (is it poodle and beagle?).

One last parting note: Are you buying from someone who wants quick cash, or who is trying to develope a good & healthy new breed via trying to create lines, showing their purebred breeding stock, and health testing?

One thing, there is no such breed as the "PUGGLE". It's a mutt. There is no way someone could predict how a mutt will look or act. There is no way to tell what it's temperament will be. If someone is telling you that it's a new breed or "best of both breeds minus the health problems", they're are lying. The dog will probably have the Pug breathing problems, the Beagle dwarfism and TWICE the amount of known hereditary health problems.

I am glad you are excited about your mix breed.. that is what it is a mixed breed. I just hope you didn't spend money on the puppy. These puppies are worth a hill of beans, but if that is what you wanted give it a good home..but just don't think you are getting a designer dog..... what you are getting is a cute little mutt.

I really do not like to be a downer, but I must ask this......

WHY do you know that you are getting a puggle yet don't know what you are getting????????

It is this type of impulse purchasing that is overcrowding shelters and rescues. I hope it is not too late if you do your research before it gets to you and you change your mind.

I also hope that you do plan to get her spayed, because she is a mix and just because she is cute, does not mean we need more.

Sorry to rain on your parade, I just hope that after she has out grown her cute puppy stage and her beagle traits show (that is one of the main reasons puggles get dumped), that she does not end up dumped at a shelter somewhere.

Oh they are the cutest things!!! I just love them!! They get the best of both breeds. a pug and a beagle. they can be hyper, but not as much as a pug. they shed, but not as much as pugs. they have a little begle in them, so they love rabbits. so you have to watch them.. don't let her run off on a scent trail, or if she sees one.
i absolutely love them. i'm not much on designer breeds, but this one i have to give a heads up to . and they're just so damn cute!
if you research both breeds by googling, or going to AKC, you will find both traits in your puppy. hard to tell what will come out the strongest. each pup is individual. and you will see both breeds in your new baby. they are very loving, very happy little dogs. and i have found them to have the spunk of a pug, but on a much calmer level.
good luck and send me a pic if you can. i just love them!!

Well its not really a breed as such!. Its two different pure bred breeds bred together. I wouldn't pay more than $200 for one of those mixed breeds.
