This has always been so silly to me. Have you ever thought about how hard it is for us to have to knock on a strangers door to share good news with them? Just as in ALL religions, there are eccentric behaviors and just because you may have encountered a persistant witness doesnt mean that speaks for the ENTIRE religion. I'm a pleasant person and if you're not interested in hearing what the Bible says, then i leave. True enough, I care that much about you that i may ask another question, but I sincerely care about my neighbors and their well-being. Who wouldnt want to see the world rid of violence, war and death!! I know i would!!!
Please NO NEGATIVITY!!!!!!!!! THIS ISNT A NEGATIVE THOUGHT OR QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's only hard because we have to deal with inexcusable rudeness. I wont stop because I am involved in a life-saving work. It is God's will, not man's

CHARGERSFAN- i really suggest that you talk to an active, baptized Jehovah's Witness. The things you heard about us arent true. Just a side thought-how many cults do you know that openly go door-to-door? We participate in daily activities just like everyone else. We dont hide our worship. Anyone is free to walk into one of our meetings.

Okay, I must admit that I don't really like Jehovah's Witnesses coming to my door, but I respect that you were able to state your side of this politely and reasonably. We really should acknowledge that many of you are really nice people who care about others. Good for you for pointing this out in a nice way. : )

"How silly is it that people hide in their OWN homes when Jehovah's Witnesses knock on your door?" Sorry, this is not silly - for many - unwanted people knocking on the door SCARE THEM.

"I'm a pleasant person and if you're not interested in hearing what the Bible says, then i leave" - Any chance you can tell ALL of the JW to do this - and not leave any literature - (liter). Few are as you are, and this is the problem. Also how do you remove the ire of dealing with JW or others that have now thrown the day into deep thoughts of faith when most people are relaxing with the kids finally after a long week of commuting and being at work. Time with their children would be better spent than with unwanted strangers demeaning the strength of their faith.

Many people are just trying their best to NOT RUIN THEIR DAY BY BEING RUDE so hide, and do not open their door - come by when people call you, stop coming unannounced and unwanted into people's houses, is what you will hear.

Many do not want their house cased by strangers, and that's what it feels like - the NEWS is ALWAYS WARNING HOME OWNERS TO BE SCARED OF STRANGERS.
Also total strangers insulting them in their faith. All people have faith - and for JW or anyone going door-to-door to not leave quietly but insult them is wrong.
And if a person does not have a faith is fine too. Insulting the intellegence of strangers is wrong.

"Have you ever thought about how hard it is for us to have to knock on a strangers door to share good news with them?" - No. Because of the "...encountered a persistant witness..." ruin any chance of people wanting to listen to you.

I am not negative against YOU, you say you are nice. It's just your system you operate under that irritates me.

Excuse me!
I don't have to hide.
I was dis-fellowshipped over a year ago, and haven't heard from a witness since.
I never stopped believeing the truth, I just made a few serious mistakes, which I made sure to take of them never happening again. But, I have not received any kind of attampt at a sheparding call or anything. When I was a Witness, I can recall the countless times the Elders would call on those who were disfellowshipped, yet as for me? nothing.
I would go back, but, when I returned to the meetings, I would arrive a little late and leave a little early out of consideration for the congregation (you know so that visitors would not accidently say a greeting to me), and more than twice, two ;brothers(ministerials servants) were outside talking during the meeting when I was trying to leave. Well, as my son was with me, they would stop my son to say hello to him (while I am still holding his hand as he was three years old), and it made me feel like I was a piece of trash. So I just stopped going altogether.
I know it is the truth but I can not get over the reality that some people in the congregations are so selfish and insensitive.
I would really like to go back but when I remember the reasons why my spirituality got damaged (from bad association in the congregation) and how there seems to be people in good standing that repeatedly cross the line and are apparently bulltproof as regards reproof, I wonder, do I really want all the anxiety I had before to return?

I am going to try to say this as nicely as I can. Your choice of a religion has all the characteristics of a cult.

I can sense how very sincere you are in your beliefs, but Jehovah's Witness is not based on Christ. JW's feel all of us can become deities and that's just not so. I have also been told that JW's don't believe Christ is God's Son. Without pulling out my lesson book here I can tell you there are an awful lot of issues that are very suspiciously concealed in the doctrine of JW.

Please investigate the tenets of Jehovah's Witness more deeply. I wish us Protestants would testify as much as the JW's do.

I don't hide, lol, at least not anymore. I witness to them when they knock on my door.

I'm not being negative or rude. I'm just telling you my experiences. Every time a Jehovah's Witness has come to my door, I've answered it. However, when I have said that I already have a faith that I'm very happy in, they persist in telling me that my church is wrong and theirs is the only right one. I remain polite, but it takes a lot. I usually end up saying something like: "I'm not at all interested in what you're saying. Would you please leave." They finally do, but I think after my first statement, they should have left.

My religion doesn't go knocking on people's doors. I don't know why Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons do that. I just don't want to be bothered in my house, I want to rest. What good news are you talking about?I already found Jesus and do believe in God. I think you are doing this with the best of intentions but you simply make people uncomfortable. If people are interested they will go to you.

I hide because I know that even if I open the door and talk to you guys, and tell you for the sixtieth time that I know what you're selling, am not interested, and point out the NO SOLICITING sign on my door, you'll be back again next weekend. It's nothing personal. It's simply that I don't agree and I don't have to justify to you why I disagree. I don't need anyone else to validate or try to invalidate my beliefs for me. I can do that for myself. If I ever find that my own beliefs lean more toward the JW's - I know where you are. Let me come to you.

I don't know, one reason could be that, when we do answer our doors and politely say that we either aren't interested or don't want to join, many push this religion down our throats and knock on your doors time, and time again. Lots of people get tired of telling the same people that you aren't interested so they just don't answer the door.

You might not be like that, but some Jehovah's witnesses are.

I'm sure you're nice & all but some Witnesses just don't take "no" for an answer. I've had a few tell me I'm going to hell. I don't agree with the religion at all and I'm not rude about it. It's off putting when people come to your door to "spread good news". Sorry. It feels like a salesman and I can't say that I know alot of people who like people selling stuff to them when they're just trying to chill at home. If any of us want to know about the religion, we can go find out about it. It's the information age. That being said, good for you that you put yourself out there. I know I wouldn't do that sort of thing because I don't like rejection and I don't like to push things on other people.

Don't be rough on her, she is doing just as our Savior, Christ Jesus and his disciples did. They went door to door and from city to city, no different, and they went about in twos. We are just preaching the same message as Jesus and his disciples. looking for lost sheep. The reason we return over and over again is, many homes and living places are rented and renters change residence from time to time, also, you never know what may happen in a person's life to change their outlook on things, many of our brothers and sisters said no to the truth at one time or another, I know this for a fact as I myself have said no to it, but God did not give up on me and he kept sending his witnesses. Now I have been with his people for more than a decade and have enjoyed the company of many fine brothers and sisters over the years, I have learned much from reading the Bible and attending meetings and cheerish every moment I can spend near Jehovah's people. It's a life I would never want to lose.
