Dual boot using both 98 and XP

What could you possibly like about Windows 98? The look? You can switch it over to Classic. Windows 98 is no longer supported anyway, so it isn't a good choice for an operating system.

And yes, if you don't have a separate partition already available, then you would have to format the hard drive. Windows 98 uses FAT32 file system, while 2000, XP, and Vista use NTFS. They are incompatible.

Problem is, XP normally uses NTFS formatted drives, and 98 uses FAT 32.

If you are planning on putting them both on the same hard drive, or interact in any way (file sharing), you will have to format the hdd in FAT 32. XP can use FAT 32, but it normally comes installed in NTFS.

And you lose the nice capabilities that NTFS offers.

EDIT FOR ANTHONY:

You cannot duel-boot a system unless you use a file partitioning table that both/all operating systems are compatible with...not on the same hdd anyways.

And if you already have XP on a drive, chances are 99.9 out of 100 that it is NTFS, meaning that a reformat would be needed...requesting FAT32 instead of NTFS.

As a point, you would reformat the drive, and install 98 first, then add XP.
