You still need to tip. The going rate for tips I believe is still 17.5%. The delivery price is usually the same as the in store price, unless it is advertised as being more, either case there is no tip included.

Until my daughter delivered pizza in high school, I never tipped the driver because I thought that the delivery charge went to the driver. But now I know that it doesn't - it goes into the owner's pocket to reimburse them for the money they spend on gas. So now I always tip a few bucks.

When did pizza places start charging for delivery anyway? Bummer, yes, but here's one way of looking at it.

Usually, the delivery charge is a flat rate: $1.50-$3.00 or so. Unless your pizza cost $10.00, which it doesn't anymore, than you can see how this fee doesn't really cover a tip. More likely, pizza places are using it to cover costs, like having to reimburse the driver for the mileage.

I could see how you might feel like you don't need to tip if your delivery charge is 18% or something like that, but it's usually not.

So tip your driver

I still tip the delivery charge doesn't go to the driver, they get part of it for gas and wear and tear on their car.

I tip that way next time that driver will bring my pizza befor he delivers to the non-tippers and my pizza will be hot and theirs will be cold.

Yes you still tip (if they provide the service). Delivery Charge is for gas and car maint.

I tip, delivery guys don't make money. They make minimum wage. Some delivery guys take the job as a part time to make ends meet. The delivery charge is pretty much for gas.
So tip, don't be stingy.

I do not see why people should have to tip anyone ever. You should be free to do so if you receive some special service above and beyond the call of duty but for ordinary work, no. The employers should pay their employees a living wage. It should not be up to the customers to make up the difference.

In Australia you never have to tip anyone - not even taxi drivers. If you want to do so, no-one is stopping you but waiters, pizza delivery people etc are all paid good wages. If they get tips it is because they have earned them.
