Every day for hours my cat will meow constantly. He's about 3 years old, male, Egyptian Mau, neutered. I've tried petting him or feeding him but he keeps on meowing. What should I do?

Has there been a change in your home? New person or furniture or object or did you remove something, rearrange things? Is there something different going on outside that he can see? Are you stressed or worried or upset or notfeeling well? Your cat can sense this too. When I get stressed and the stress lasts for days, my older cat starts to vocalize excessively too - looking for reassurance.

Cats also get very antsy about any change - some are more sensitive than others. At any rate, when a cat excessively vocalizes when he did not before (and there is no indication that he is sick or in pain), the problem is emotional. He can benefit from some catnip or anti-stress essences, sprays or plug-ins that you can buy at the pet shop. Try to be clam yourself so your cat can pick up the reassuring energy from you. At the worst, you can go to the vet and see what he can do.

Talking is part of thier breed... Much like Siamese cats. They will chat for hours, not always meowing either. Some wil chirp and sometimes they will moan. There isn't anything wrong with the kitty, like I said, Egyptian Mau is a talkative breed.

My cat Kitty also meows nonstop too! When I give him a few pats on the head, he stops for a few minutes, so maybe he just wants you attention. He may have something wrong with him or he's in pain, so take him to a vet. You may want to get him another cat, but a female, so he's not bored or he could be scared!

have you spoken to the vet about this? some cats are more vocal than others naturally. have you played with him for a while to tire him out a bit? My cat meows when he wants to play. Does he meow then goes towards a certain direction it might of found something and he is trying to let you know.

Has this just started to happen? Also I see that he is 3 yrs old-- have you had him since a kitty?? I am not too familiar with this breed, but am thinking that this breed of cat is vocal, much like the Siamese.... however if in doubt, I would take him to my vet for a thorough checkup. Good luck, hope he will be OK!!!

He may be lonely and/or bored. Try providing him with more toys, especially things like a cat dancer or one of those hoops with a ball inside. A kitty condo where he can climb and scratch and that has a few surprises should suit his fancy.

Talk to your vet - your cat may be in pain, or have a hearing problem.

Take the kitty to a vet pronto! Cats are prone to urinary infections and on occasion, especially with neutered males, there could have been a mistake done in the process. We lost one because of that and what you are describing sounds disturbingly familiar.

the two he needs to play or is hungry or isn't feeling nicely. some cats are talkers. Ask your vet if this is an illustration of hassle and pay interest to whilst the meowing happens and what befell that could have led to it. sounds such as you have a chatty kitty.

My cat was doing this too a few months after we moved. I took him to the vet and once I knew he was healthy, I just started talking back to him. Now he doesn't wail for hours like he used to but we have daily chats.

He is not meowing for nothing. He is trying to tell you something.

When did he begin doing this? Did anything change in his living situation?

Did you change the food you usually feed?
Are you gone more often?
Did you add or lose any pets or housemates?
Have you taken him for an exam? Is he possibly sick?
Is he indoor/outdoor and have you changed his access frequency?
If he is indoor, have you changed the brand of litter?
Did you change his bed (if he has one)?
Did you change anything at all in your home? Furniture, carpeting, cleaning chemicals?

If you still aren't sure, by all means, go to the vet.
