That's a very good question! I think your referring about yourself to a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. I believe this is where people get confused. I think you really need to ask yourself is this unconditional love?

Philosopher's have been contemplating this question throughout centuries and no one really has come up with a correct answer since its so arbitrary. I am currently in the same situation and trying to figure it out myself. I think the answer is different for everyone and first thing is to define LOVE. Since your referring to a person/human being its more complex than an just object (TV, Clothes, Movies, and etc..) You can love someone and if that person is not reciprocal to you in exchange, than is it really love?

I tried to analyze and break it down strategically in my head, but as I do this it refers back to an emotional feeling so I have asked myself 3 main questions.

1) Who is this person and can I truly trust them unconditional? Trust my feelings, thoughts, and in times of need will this person always be there?

2) Do I care about this person enough where you are willing to sacrifice yourself interest over theres, for their happiness?

3) Ultimately, ask yourself why this person? Because you can love your parents, siblings and relatives but is it a different type of LOVE feeling?

I think you can LOVE several objects with different degrees, but to LOVE someone unconditionally is truly essentially no different than say your parents, siblings, children, and whomever that maybe.
