This is actually a toughie if you don't know anybody with a tall ladder, a fire truck or a cherry picker truck. Cats climb trees quite easily but often have no clue how to climb down. The only way the can climb down is backwards. They will often figure this out on their own, but sometimes, the cat will try and jump and this can often lead to injury or death when the height is great. If you can get a ladder and coax the cat into your arms, that would be best. Beware, the cat will be very frightened and might scratch you as it clings to you, so be sure to wear a thick sweatshirt or heavy denim jacket. Unfortunately, most local firefighters no longer offer their help in rescuing cats from trees. Good luck.

Most cats will come out of a tree by themselves, their instincts help them know how. If your cat isn't out of the tree for a few hours there may be something in your yard that is scaring it. If not, you should get a ladder and help your kitty down.

Go under the tree with a can opener and a can of cat food.
Open the can.

A cat is just as able to climb down a tree as it is to climb up. I think it's so silly to call for help to get a cat down. He'll come down when he's good and ready.

the cat will come down on it's own. don't throw rocks at it or anything else at it, because cats climb trees when they are scared so you might spook it even farther up the tree.

If the cat made it up the tree then just ignore it. It'll come back down, they always do.
