If so, how do "pro-life" individuals get around it? Is it something that a medical student can "opt out" from? I need some guidance and would really appreciate if those of you who have gone through medical training could tell me what your decisions were and why.

NO IT'S NOT.

That is only taught later on in training, and only if it is part of what the student is going to specialise in.

i'm no longer positive. Abortions at the on the spot are not outstanding, and regardless of everybody's perspectives, human beings are going to have them besides. yet an abortion utilising this technique before 9 weeks can be a lengthy way a lot less undesirable than one at the same time as the newborn is older and must be torn aside by a surgical device. the purely downfall is, via time decrease, human beings will be rushed into making a range they could fairly remorseful about. the purely decision is to do a tribulation run and note if the variety of abortions develop given this decision.

I believe the only ones who train in this procedure are those who are specializing in women's health, and/or perhaps family practice who will be involved in obstetrics. Bottom line is one has to learn how to treat patients who may have complications from the procedure. Despite what one feels personally, you must treat a patient under the auspices of "do no harm." Not knowing the procedure or how to take care of a woman after this has been performed, well could unintentionally harm by lack of knowledge.
This is a hot button topic on both sides, a true medical professional remains neutral, and keeps personal feeling out of the equation.

It all depends on what type of training you are involved in. Only if you are going to work for an abortion clinic as a doctor then, you would have to know how to perform an abortion. They will not make you do anything you are not comfortable with. There are plenty of medical careers that you can do that have nothing to do with abortion. I am as well Pro Life. Good Luck And GOD Bless :)

I'm a medical student and YES you have to learn it. You have to learn how to do all kinds of things you might find disgusting and repugnant. Including treating a heroin addict who's vomiting on you, a homeless guy spitting on you, and abortions. You need to keep that kind of judgement to yourself until you are done with training. You will be tested on everything. Afterwards, clearly you will not want to go into OB/GYN or emergency medicine for residency and you will never have to perform an abortion if you don't want to.

I am not a medical student, but I could never participate in the killing of an innocent human being.

I have nothing to do with medicine, but I must say that ABORTION IS MURDER!!!!!! abortion kills children and it is NOT a women's choice to kill the baby or keep it. the woman should give the baby up for adoption, because there are plenty of people who are waiting to adopt a baby. abortion is a sin, and it hurts women too. it is the worst thing to come to america, and we are going to be punished for it. fight against abortion today!!!

I believe if you are going to work in this very objective, highly professional field, you may want to focus on ways to put your judgements of other people's situations, circumstances, and decisions aside. Really.
