Proper nutrition and exercise are the keys. Starving yourself will not work, and there is no overnight cure. For most people, the issue is not as much what you are eating as it is what's eating you. What I mean is that most people overeat and under exercise for a reason. If you really want to lose weight, but it takes the desire and commitment to do it. If you can lose 1 or 2 pounds per week (sometimes more), you will be on track to achieve your goals. Some suggestions: cut out sodas and sweets...if this is difficult for you, try diet sodas and sugar free candy. Try to eliminate junk foods and fatty fried food. A healthy diet of salads, vegetables, and lean meats or fish will work well. Try to find some way to get some exercise that is fun...dancing, tennis, hiking, racquetball, bicycling or something that will get you up and out of the house and being active for at least 30 minutes per day for 5 or more days per week. If you can find a buddy or partner to do this with you it will be easier. Consistency is key, and if you mess up, just keep going....do not quit. Diets do not work in the long run...what you need is a healthy "lifestyle change" to take the weight off and keep it off. I was overweight for a long time, and I lost a LOT of weight by doing exactly what I am telling you...and I have kept the weight off. Oprah Winfrey has some good suggestions on her web site, and so does Dr. Phil. Also the show, the biggest loser has good info. Once you get started and see some progress, you will be encouraged to keep going. If you want more info I will try to answer your ?s. Good luck...you can do it!

I will try to keep it simple. Your metabolism is basically the rate at which your body burns calories to create energy. So the faster your metabolism, the faster you burn calories and the easier it is to lose unwanted weight. To boost your metabolism naturally you just need to eat the right foods.

You can sit down and literally eat a 1,000-calorie dinner and yet be absolutely starving just a few hours later and the reason is simple: Because your body didnt get what it needed in those 1,000 calories so it sends signals to your brain telling you to ingest more calories and thus, the late-night cravings. That means that the surest way to end those late-night cravings and keep your weight loss goals on track is to eat a more balanced, nutritious diet that actually gives your body what it needs.

It's VERY EASY to lose weight if you eat the right foods. Check out Dr. Charles Livingston's video here: http://www.sexyjese.com - it will blow your mind.

I think you're on the right track! Sometimes it takes a while from the time you start to really see results. Just stick with it, and remember the number on the scale is not the most important factor, how you feel, how your clothes fit, those are more important. Muscle weighs more than fat and what you're gaining from working out is muscle. Don't look for a "quick fix" though because you'll just end up gaining it back. Move more and eat better, which sounds exactly like what you're doing, keep up the good work!
