Ok, I'm really frustrated cause i can't start a period and have recovered from prior annorexia. I am now healthy and my weight has stabilized at around 99-100 pounds. I am 5 foot 2.5 inches tall. I eat plenty during the day (six small, healthy meals) and my body just won't gain any more weight. I have been eating like that for two years because I am seeing a nutritionist who prescribed me the meal plan. I reached this weight, and my body just doesn't want to gain any more, even though I am no longer annorexic and eat plenty during the day. My nutritionist is concerned cause I still can't start a period and have never even had one in my life. I am sixteen, going on seventeen in May. Is there any kind of medicine or hormones that will help me to finally start? I think it needs a boost because it's been underfed in the past (two years ago) and it just won't jumpstart.

Have you talked to your doctor. I had a friend, once, who did have periods but one month she manipulated her pills so she would not have a period while on vacation. Afterward she did not start, and went to the doctor, she had hypothyroidism. My point is maybe there is another problem other than your weight that could be affecting your not starting. Hope all is well.

go see a ob gyn, if you have already done so, then ihave heard of girls who got the dep shot (form of birth control ) and their period stoped, and they were put on bc pills and are now fine there is also some thing called poly cystic ovarian syndrone. check in to this. maybe natural plant estrogens such as soy?

You have to have a certain amount of body fat before you are able to have a period. You should consult your physician. It may have something to do with hormones or maybe it's just not ready to start that yet.

You probably hsould go see your OBGYN and have a good thorough check up, Sweetie. It will take away your worry and they should be able to better evaluate things for you. Everyone's body is different.
