Because all they can do is repeat (like dully colored parrots, at least most of the time. I've met some okay Christians [trying to avoid a thumbs down {but you can give me it if you want to prove you're someone I'm talking about}]) and they're afraid of things they don't understand.

Have you noticed that science has never found an experiment for discovering that something is "sin"? So it becomes difficult to find some kind of a "scientific fact" for defining sin. Sin is a concept which is only defined within the scope of philosophy and religion.

Neither of those deal in the area of "facts". They deal in the area of opinions and beliefs. Plato, for example, argues from opinion and reason, not facts.

So when you are looking for a definition of what is "sin", the answers are going to come from either philosophy or religion. When it comes from religion, it will be a quote form the scriptures, as they are the "source" for religious "authority".

When I first read this question, I immediately said “because those Christians do not have any facts to provide.” The common reason used when being told why something is wrong is because the bible says so is very weak. That is just like saying the reason why one does not salute the flag is because their mother said so. The response is too weak and therefore is subject to easy scrutiny.

Additionally, the problem today is that when we are asked questions, we give our opinions instead answering the question with facts. Here is a question that I will provide with facts; Is it God’s will when a tragedy strikes? When a child dies, does that mean that God needed another angel with him in Heaven?

People of various religions have gone to their religious leaders and teachers to ask why there is so much suffering. Often, the response is that suffering is God’s will and that he long ago determined everything that would ever happen, including tragic events. Many are told that God’s ways are mysterious or that he brings death upon people - even children - so that he can have them in heaven with him. In essence, these religious leaders are calling Jehovah God a liar because…

1 John 4:8: “He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love.”

Job 34:10: “Far be it from the true God to act wickedly, and the Almighty to act unjustly!”

Deuteronomy 32:4: “The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice; Righteous and upright is he.”

Romans 9:14: “What shall we say, then? Is there injustice with God? Never may that become so!”

Psalm 19:7: “The law of Jehovah is perfect, bringing back the soul. The reminder of Jehovah is trustworthy, making the inexperienced one wise.”

People make the mistake of blaming God for all the suffering in the world? In many cases, they blame Almighty God because they think that he is the real ruler of this world. The real ruler of this world is Satan the Devil. What fact do we have?
1 John 5:19: “We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.” How can this scripture be backed up by facts? This world reflects the personality of the invisible spirit creature who is “misleading the entire inhabited earth.” (Revelation 12:9) Satan is hateful, deceptive, and cruel. So the world, under his influence, is full of hatred, deceit, and cruelty. That is one reason why there is so much suffering.

A second reason why there is so much suffering is that since the rebellion in the Garden of Eden, mankind has been imperfect and sinful. Sinful humans tend to struggle for dominance, and this results in wars, oppression, and suffering. (Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9) Just look within the current Bush Administration and the fiasco there. The War in Iraq and the casualties there and the desperate push for more troops in Iraq by Bush to find weapons of mass destruction. This just goes to show you that…

Jeremiah 10:23: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”

Psalm 146:3, 4: “Do not put YOUR trust in nobles, Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day his thoughts do perish.”

A third reason for suffering is “time and unforeseen occurrence.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) In a world without Jehovah as a protective Ruler, people may suffer because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is just a few points and facts that I wanted to share with you. I hope these are the kind of answers with facts that you look for when a question is asked. When answering any question that requires us to make a sound decision, we are to follow the counsel at Proverbs 3:5, 6: “Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding. In all your ways take notice of him, and he himself will make your paths straight.”

The fact is it's sin because God said so. But no worse than a lot of other sins. For example, an alcoholic is an alcoholic. An adulterer and a murderer, you get the drift. The issue is blown way out of proportion in my opinion. If they won't let gays in church they shouldn't let gossipers or any other sinner.

I am a human first, Catholic second. I believe in God, and i support the church, but this does not mean that I agree with everything they say. Personally, I feel that being gay is not a choice, you are either born gay or straight. I base this on two main ideas that I take from the Bible
1. God gave us free will
2. Judge not lest ye be judged

a million, you probably did not provide the citation from surah 11:14, so who's commonplace with what it says? #2, truth is that many Christians DO trust that Jesus is "god" and many Christians.also do no longer trust that Jesus is "god", not at all heard of absolutely everyone that seen Mary as a "goddess". Agnostic myself I do imagine Jesus did exist and turned right into a prophet/sensible Rabbi that taught Buddhism to the Jews. I absolutely have not considered info that ANY "god" exists. So there is not any way i'm getting on the point of Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, Christianity, Shintoism, or Islam. they're all both unprovable. reward on your journey!

Nowadays our society gas taken a "to-each his own" stance regarding Homosexuality on an effort not to offend anyone.Homosexuality is in the process of becoming widly accepted and is even being taught as a lifestyle option. But God never call this lifestyle an option. He calls it sin. 1 corinthians 6:9-11 tells us that No one who is immoral or worships idols or is unfaithful in marriage or is a homosexual will share in God's kingdom....However we must not condem those who are homosexuals as Christians we should instead Love them not their sin but that person.Matthew 19:19 says to Love your neighbor as yourself and lastly ...Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you Ephesians 4:32

just because you do not accept what is given does not make it fact. you do not have to believe in gravity, but the fact still remains that you are subject to it. you beleive what you wish, and let others beleive what the wish.
