I think the classic idea that many people have is that when they die, they will (hopefully) go to heaven, where they will again be with loved ones. Husbands and wives who were separated when one died on Earth will be reunited.

But according to the Bible, do you continue your marriage in Heaven?

I was listening to someone today who said that this would not be the case. He said that the Apostle Paul has something to say about the matter. Paul supposedly says that in Heaven there are no husbands and wives. I am guessing that the implication here is that everyone is the same to each other in heaven. But I am not sure.

Can anyone clarify this for me? And if you know where this is found in the Bible, I would love to know what book and verse, as I would like to read it.

Thanks.

The Bible tells us, “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven” (Matthew 22:30). This was Jesus’ answer in response to a question concerning a woman who had been married multiple times in her life – who would she be married to in heaven (Matthew 22:23-28)? Evidently, there will be no such thing as marriage in heaven. This does not mean that a husband and wife will not longer know each other in heaven. This also does not mean that a husband and wife could not still have a close relationship in heaven. What it does seem to indicate, though, is that a husband and wife will no longer be married in heaven. There is likely no purpose for marriage in heaven since there is no procreation or loneliness.

That is correct-we will not be married in heaven. Why? Who knows, the scriptures do not say. Read it in Matthew 22:23-33, Mark 12:18-27, Luke 20:27-38.

It actually says in mark Chapter 12 verse 24-25. It is not paul who says it but jesus. It says " Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the scriptures nor the power of god? For when they rise from the dead they will neither marry nor be given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

Not that I know of.. My husband was not a born again christian.
There is no giving in marriage in heaven..

Mark 12:23, 24, 25

23In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

24And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

25For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

this my friend goes beyond the bible. yes, as long as the person and the loved one are good, hopefully both parties go to heaven where they will be reunited. Although all are equals in heaven, there will more than likely a stronger feeling between that person and the loved one. the only way to really find out is die and go to heaven.

As for marriage in Heaven:
Jesus said "Ye do greatly err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God, for there is neither marriage nor giving in marriage in the Kingdom of Heaven, for all are as the holy angels themselves."

In Luke somewhere after the Triumphal Entry the Sadducees asked Jesus if a man got married but died and then his brother married the same woman but died and that happened 7 times and then if the womwan died whose wife would she be after the resurrection. Jesus said that there would be no marrage after the resurrection. Hope this helps

Jesus said in Heaven we are neither male nor female, and there will be no marriage. Look at Matthew 22:25.
