Home treatment is usually all that is needed for cradle cap.
An hour before shampooing, rub your baby's scalp with baby oil, mineral oil, or petroleum jelly to help lift the crusts and loosen scales.
When ready to shampoo, first get the scalp wet, then gently scrub the scalp with a soft-bristle brush (a soft toothbrush works well) for a few minutes to remove the scales. You can also try gently removing the scales with a fine-tooth comb.
Then wash the scalp with baby shampoo, rinse well, and gently towel dry.

My three-year-old has a little bit of cradle cap still. The problem is that she has SO much thick hair that it is difficult to find it all. I also try to pick it off when she is sleeping. I have tried baby oil or vaseline, but both of them are extrememly difficult to wash out. After her hair dries, it looks greasy and oily. I finally found a product that works. It is called Cradle Car Care and it is made by Gentle Naturals. It is sold in a green bottle, and I bought mine at Target. Do you have that store where you live? If not, maybe you can buy it online. It works wonderfully, and it washes away with out leaving the hair oily the next day!! Good luck!

My four month old suffered from cradle cap for almost two months. I found this shampoo for baby's called Mustela and use it every time I bath my son. Then, when he gets out of the tub, I dry his head and apply a thin layer of baby vaseline (once a week). It helps to keep it away. Our doctor also suggested to use a cream like Hydrocortisone. If it doesn't go away with these suggestions, see your doctor. It may not be cradle cap. Good luck!

Oh my goodness my daughter had the same issue. I thought it would never go away. It was kinda gross. What worked for me was to put baby oil on her head then massage it with a BABY brush. The soft brissle one. Then wash her head with WARM water. NO SHAMPOO on the days you use baby oil. The shampoo is very drying to the scalp, which can make it worse. Only shampoo once a week. Good luck to you!

I used a cradle cap shampoo made by Gentle Naturals. Olive oil, baby oil, vaseline, etc just did not work for my daughter. My sister had some luck with Head & Shoulders for her kids, but my daughter's skin was too sensitive so didn't try it.

My daughter had this - this is what I did and we never saw it again. I gently rubbed Vaseline in her hair and onto her scalp - I then used a fine toothed baby comb and I gently combed all the scales off her scalp - comb against the natural lay of her hair. It will take a couple shampoo's to get all the Vaseline out but it worked!!

My 3 year old still has it. Baby oil works but I have always found it comes back. Picking it off has always worked well for me.
