I have heard people tell of severe headaches from quitting sugar and caffeine. Can you start by watering it down? Use soda water if that helps. Then switching to watered-down juice before you quit that too? Fruit contains important fibre if it hasn't been juiced. Water is a much better drink for thirst. (If you are still thirsty you had better be checked for diabetes.) Once you are off the pop you will not believe how you drank that awful stuff. Good luck.

I'm still working on this one myself, but I've heard a lot of people (including my parents) talk about "de-toxing" from things like soda, fast food, and sugar.

There truly isn't any easy way to kick a soda addiction -- because caffene is literally a drug and like any drug you go through withdrawls. With soda, you'll experiance fatigue, headaches, and cravings. Like any drug, it's important to have a support system set up to help you resist the urges to fall back into the habit.

The best way to go about it, is first get your intake of soda under control. Limit yourself to one soda a day. After you've mastered limiting the amount per day, limit yourself to one soda every other day, then one per week. This will lower the amount of caffene your body is used to, and will minimize the withdrawls you go through. When you do suffer from the tell-tale signs of soda-withdrawls, there is a quick fix. Take midol. It may sound stupid, and you may hate the idea of taking "menstrual medicine" however it contains painkillers for the headaches and a small amount of caffene to ease the craving.

Lastly, drink LOTS and LOTS of bottled or filtered water! The sooner you clean your system of the caffene and chemicals with water, the sooner you'll get past wanting a coke-fix. (Oh and energy drinks will cause a HUGE setback, since they're like coke on crack, if you're going to kick soda, you'll have to kick these too.)

Best of luck!

I have kicked it pretty much now! I do feel better about it, too. I bought bottled waters and also a filtering pitcher that I keep filled up with fresh water to sometimes refill the bottles. I add those little tube water flavorings and they are great for a substitute. You will crave the carbonation at first, but that will get less and less as you stick to it!

Good Luck!

in case you drink it for the flavour, then merely drink the truthfully substance your soda of decision is supposedly imitating. Like orange soda? Drink some orange juice... Sprite? upload a contact of lemon and lime to three sparkling water. I have a sneaking suspicion that 'style' is the sugar and caffeine withdrawal doing the talking. i don't think of human beings comprehend that sugar and caffeine are both powerfully addictive psychoactive drugs... And sure that is going to likely be worse on your teeth than in case you merely swallowed it. Carbonated beverages are noticeably corrosive.

Try substitutes for soda (such as flavored waters & sparkling water mixed with juice). Also try drinking a glass of water & eating a piece of juicing fruit (like an orange) instead.

I know what you mean!!!!! It is frickin addictive! Cut down how many you drink a day, drink things like gatorade (it's an acquired taste, but good), teas, kool-aid:), and good ole'.....water!!!! Water is the best because it not only is the best thirst quencher, but it helps your skin look awesome! Oh, and stay away from the drink machine at work..... take some capri suns or gatorade to work.
Try the blue (cant think of name) gatorade... it is the best flavor

gatorade or powerade; once you get used to those it's not a big jump to water.

Also look for a diet soda you can stand; I found diet Mountain Dew is OK. better than diet Cola; something about the sweetener tastes bad with the cola taste.
