Why did you break up with him in the first place? Think about things like that. If you're in love with him, the best thing to do is tell him how you truely feel. I would apologize and tell him that you want to get back together.

Evaluate the reason that you broke up with each other. if he ended it.. (though it's hard) do you best to move on by meeting new people through different activities like parties, joining a gym, etc...
If you ended it.. there had to be a good reason by try distracting yourself a little with the same activities listed above, but also make a list of his good/bad qualities... reason why it won't work between the two of you and then work on trying to heal.
It sucks when you're apart from someone you care about, and maybe you don't love him as much as you think. Sometimes being used to someone hurts more than if you actually love them.
Try and look forward to the exciting things that a new relationship will have in it.

What in the world were you thinking in the first place. Trust me he wants to know too. Figure out what it was that you could no longer deal with first. Then talk to him and let him know how oyu feel how wrong you were. Expect him to be cold at first if you broke his heart but if he still has feelings for you he may give you another chance.
Some advise for the next time something like this comes up talk before you just run out and leave him lonely and heartbroken.

Tell him how you feel. This is happening to me right now. But if he doesnt like you back you cant do anything. The thing you have to remember is YOU broke up with HIM.

Ummmm....... why did you break up with him then? I say maybe you should tell him that you screwed up and if he still doesn't forgive you then just wait. I did that when I was in high school, and it was one of the dumbest things I did..... but now I'm married to him for almost 14 years. :)

braking up with someone is always hard . even when you had strong feeling for them. One thing though why did you brake up with him? thats why you need to ask yourself if you still like him give it time and things will turn out okay
