Baby #2 is due in August, and we JUST got around to telling everyone about her (my mother is convinced we'll have a girl).
The question is: is it common for baby showers to be held for second children? What is the etitiquite is in a situation like this--do we register? Do we not?

And this is actually a GOOD thing that there probably won't be another shower; having to go DO the registry is a headache and a half!

Usually people will have a baby shower if your second child is the opposite gender than your first. If not sometimes your close friends will have you just a small shower just because you are their friend

No, it is not customary to give baby showers to anyone but a first time mother. The thinking on that is that the mother will save everything from the first child. The only exceptoin to that rule is if you have a HUGE age gap between children...say 8-10 years. Depending on the age difference between your children, i wouldn't bother to register or expect a shower. Sorry!

Most likely you will not get a second shower unless it's been many years between children. If you are working at a different place or if you have new friends that want to give you a shower it's not that uncommon, however, most people don't invite family members and friends who attended the first shower to the second.

I dont find it a big deal about having a celebration for each child. I just had a shower for our 4th baby (Our first girl) and everyone I know loves going to showers. Its fun, and everyone socializes. If someone offers to give you a shower then great. Have it. I think doing the registery is fun. I just got online for Wal Mart and Target and sat there and picked out all that I needed for the new baby. Good Luck and try and have fun. Every baby deserves a celebration.

Usually a baby shower is just for your first baby.

You can have all the babyshowers you want, But don't
have to register again if you don't want to. I wouldn't.
