I weigh 215 btw. Would trying to lose 30 lbs be considered hard as in really really tough to lose?

My sister lost over 100 pounds. I know others who have lost as much. Ask God to help you - then work with Him. I think exercise is immensely important, because it helps not only take weight off, but keep it off. Diet is secondary.
Start walking!

Diet: Eat Early and Often
Eat a sensible breakfast: one egg with a couple of egg whites, oatmeal, toast, fruit juice or fruit or muffin.
Eat a mid-morning snack, an apple, banana, yogurt and granola.
Eat chicken, turkey, lean beef or fish (not fried) for lunch, with mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, tomatoes, etc.
In a few days you will be hungry for a mid-afternoon snack. Eat something sensible that you like.
Eat a supper that is similar to your lunch. It needs to be tasty but sensible from the standpoint of limiting excessive fat.
At night have some popcorn, munch on a carrot or stalk of celery or anything else that you like that isn’t off the calorie chart.
Point of the Drill: Diets based on depravation are doomed to fail because - guess what? - you feel deprived and starved, you last only a few weeks, maybe, then you pop back like a stretched rubber band and gain all of the lost pounds back, plus a few extra usually (more on the secret to avoiding that in one second).
If you eat right very regularly you will quicken your metabolism and your body will process and function more efficiently. Your body will become accustomed to being fed regularly. It will begin passing along unneeded fats and you will lose weight.
Cardio: Burns Fat
No, you do not have to go out and run. Walk. Ten minutes at first, or fifteen if you can do it. But do do it. And build up to at least 30 minutes per day as soon as you can. Doesn’t matter if you do fifteen in the morning and fifteen at night. Just do it. Key: Cardio burns fat. And if you eat properly, you will see amazing results. You will lose weight pretty quickly.
P.S. And if you feel like it, running is perfectly acceptable, too.
Weight Training: This Works
If you don’t know anything about it, go to a book store and look at the pictures in just about any diet and exercise book. Your objective is to build muscle mass. It isn’t hard, especially for people who have never done it or haven’t done it for some time.
But the reason you want to do this is interesting. Key: Muscle burns calories. The more you develop, the more calories get burned, even if you are just sitting watching television. There are good simple exercise you can do using your coffee table, a couple of stable chairs, a wall in any room of your house and the floor.
Suggested Things to Minimize
Mayonaise, too much cheese, too many chips, too many french fries or any other fried foods, too much junk food and too much of any other type of foods that you know darn good and well have too many calories and that are not good for you.
Helpful Hints
Do these two things and you will be amazed. Get your salad dressing served on the side, and then dip. You will probably eat at least 50 percent less of the dressing and that stuff is way heavy with oil/fat. Do the same with any gravy; order it on the side and you are daintily dipping whatever it is you got.
The Secret
Set aside a random day of the week where you DO allow yourself some of the above. Eat some pizza. Have some nachos. Git’cha a big old chicken fried steak. Maybe some ice cream or candy. Whatever. Diets fail because people deprive themselves to the brink of insanity and then they go insane. They binge back to the other extreme and wreck all of their progress. Take a day a week to stop and smell the roses, and have some pizza and ice cream while you are at it.
But as you go along you will notice something else amazing. You will still love those sinful pleasures, but afterwards you may not feel quite as good as you used to.
The reason: your entire metabolism will have changed. Your body will have come to expect good stuff you have regularly have been sending it, and when you throw down some of the not so great things, it may react slightly.
Keep eating right, keep walking, keep doing sensible weight resistance training and you WILL get there.
And it won’t be that hard. I promise.

I lost 30 lbs in under 6 months just from being sick (it was the only good thing that came from being sick.) All I could stomach eating was dry toast, graham crackers and water for those 6 months. Unfortunately, I gained it all back as soon as I was able to start eating normally again. But then I started eating healthy and am losing the weight without the yoyo effect.
Dropping 30 lbs isn't that hard, as long as you cut down on your daily intake, eat plenty of fruits, veggies and vitamin and fiber filled foods like beans, brown rice (anything whole grain). Keep your meat intake to a few times a week and try to not have red meat too often. Stick to poultry (and try to buy free range). Try to avoid foods that have preservatives and artificial stuff in them as it builds up toxicity in your body. If you maintain a healthy diet like this, you will lose the weight and not suffer the yoyo effect. (The fad diets almost always cause the yoyo effect, where you gain the weight back.)

NOT AT ALL!!! People lose MUCH more than that. I lost 40 lbs and I did 30 of it in a matter of 3-4 months (I did WeightWatchers). It's not insane at all - you're honestly lucky that you only have to lose 30 compared to what a lot of people face. Stick to your plan and the weight will come off before you know it. Good luck!

No, my son lost 130 lbs. Lots of Costco Chicken Grillers and protein drinks with lots of water. He worked out at the gym like crazy too. Now he looks like a body builder. The only drawback is he is so good looking now, people think he's gay. (No he's not. He is here with a cute girlfriend right now.) He said the important thing is to have something every 2 hours religiously (hahahaha)Seriously though, eat several times during the day but, just very small amounts.

Dieting is never easy (I know from personal experience) but I really doubt it will be too too hard to lose 30 pounds- especially once you get into the swing of things- I've heard it takes 21 days to develop a habit- If you can hold out and do well for the first 21 days, not only will you have a lot of confidence from your success already, but theoretically you will be more likely to reach your 30 pound goal.

GOODLUCK!!!

No, it's not an insane amount. I lost 35 lbs by not eating any bread or pasta and avoiding sugar and drinking lots of water. If you don't do some kind of physical activity already, start walking and gradually increase your distance or amount of time you walk.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!

Not if you commit to diet and exercise. You should not lose more than 1-2 pounds a week.

Losing weight differs from person to person. Join a gym that also staffs personal trainers (their services may cost extra in addition to the gym fee), and have a trainer guide you through. Or hire a personal trainer without joining a gym.
